Chapter 1
My favorite song is playing. My date doesn't seem to be too intrigued by it though. He knew that I liked the song. We were listening to it a half hour ago after he had picked me up from my house. A hand pressing against my shoulder, the hand of Mark Slade gripped me. In a tone loud enough that could be heard over the music, he calls my name and gestures a hand to join him. We take to the dance floor, drinks left behind at the table, dressed in black and white clothing; the theme of the high school homecoming dance.
I waited for this night ever since Mark and I started casually dating a month ago. I knew after the first date we'd be perfect for each other. He's everything a girl could ever wish for, he's charming, gorgeous and has been nothing but sweet towards me.This night couldn't be any farther from a dream. We danced for several hours and got close to kissing, but I held back. The night was still young and I wanted to wait, I was holding out on moving to that kind of physical contact; waiting for him to ask me to be his girlfriend. He seemed to understand my decision and keep his hands where it made be comfortable. I knew he really liked me, but I just want to take tonight easy.
When the dance came to an end Mark and his friends said I should come with them to a friends after-party. Thinking that was a perfect opportunity to spend more time with Mark, in hopes of him finally asking the question I've been waiting for all night, I agreed. Mark and I went off to the party in his dad's car that he let him borrow for the night.
We arrived at the party midway. Stopping in front of the house party, I went to exit the car when Mark stopped me. Turning towards him I looked into his eyes and waited for him to speak. This could be it, I thought while nervously anticipating his next words. Finally Mark broke the long silence and spoke, "Kierra, these past few weeks have been great between us and I was wondering if you would like to be my girl, you don't have to answer now I mean I can wait if your not sure-," he said starting to ramble on, which made him look even more adorable.
Cutting him off short without thinking about my answer I said "yes" and reached over and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
We exited the car after that and went to join the others at the party. For most of the night I was on cloud nine, I had even took a drink Mark had offered me not caring that it was alcohol. I didn't drink, but I was to excited about the events of the night to focus on that. A slow song started to play and Mark came to stand in front of me, "Here let me take that drink, I'll go put it in the fridge in the kitchen so no one will bother it, I want to dance with my new beautiful girlfriend," Mark said with a charming smile on his lips.
Nodding my head I let him take my drink, he left for the kitchen and was back in just a few seconds. We went to the makeshift dance floor and slow danced for what seemed like forever. When we were done, Mark went to grab my unfinished drink and to also get him another one. After taking my drink I quickly finished the tangy liquid, trying to get back to dancing with my boyfriend.
The night started to get a little hazy after that and I started to feel really hot. Getting Marks attention I told him I needed to get out of the crowded area to have a breather. With a look of concern he nodded and took my hand leading me up the stairs. Not knowing where he was taking me, I followed anyway. I just needed to cool down and take a break. Mark opened up one of the many doors upstairs and gestured me in, thanking him I immediately walked in and sat on the bed in the center of the room.
