chapter 5

Layla's POV
As we were running through the town after the bandits I thought about if I should use magic to fight them or not. Do I want to go the safe way and not use any magic, or do I want to end this all quickly and make a show of my magic for Natsu? Hmmmm... I guess it depends on what happens while we fight them. So I guess we will just have to wait and see, I concluded.

Another thought crossed my mind. How does Natsu fight if he does not use his fire to fight?  he has to say the words to use his fire dragon slaying magic, so if he does not talk anymore, how does he fight? I guess I will just watch him and figure it out.

"Natsu!" I whisper/shouted at Natsu. "I am going to go on ahead and block their way. Stay back here and make sure none of them come this way." I say Natsu nod so I took off. I jumped onto the nearest roof, and speed up. I looked down and saw the bandits running down an alley to get away from Natsu. Perfect, I thought. I jumped down from The roof blocking the only way to get out of the alley. "Looks like you are out of options boys," I said, just to get them mad. "What are you going to do?"

The bandit in the front looked furious. I concluded that he was the leader, because all of the other bandits were positioned behind him in such a way that it made it obvious he led them.

"Who do you think you are!?" he spat at me. I smirked. Natsu, I hope your listening, I thought. "I am Layla, celestial dragon slayer, and I am about to whip your butt!"

I ran at them and threw a punch at the leader. He dodged, but I kicked my foot behind his knees, bringing him to the ground. While he was kneeling there, I brought my fist down on the back of his head, knocking him out.

All of the bandits were staring at me. "Well what are you gonna do? Two dragon slayers and you." I mocked.

I could see fear in their eyes. "I will give you ten seconds to run." I said. I steppes out of the way of the exit to the alley, and as soon. As I did, all the bandits disappeared.

"Ready to do some real fighting Natsu?" I called back. Natsu walked over to me and smiled, then nodded. "Good! Lets go!"

We took off after the bandits.

NATSU'S POV

I ran with Layla after the bandits, but I was not really concentrating on where we were going. All the gears in my head were turning, thinking about what she said.

Layla is a celestial dragon slayer? How did we not hear about her before? Where is her dragon? What is she capable of?

All these questions kept turning in my head, but I did not have answers for any of them.

"Natsu!" I heard my name being called, and I looked at Layla. "The Bandits are up ahead. Show me what you got!" she ginned at me. I nodded my head and gave her a thumbs up.

Suddenly the bandits came into view. Lets do this! I thought. Then I realized something. I had not been excited for a fight for a few years! What is happening to me?

I was pulled out of my thoughts when a bandit suddenly turned around and attacked me. He pulled out a sword and swung it at me, but I dodged it. I jumped close to him and grabbed his hand that was holding the sword. I twisted it in such a way that the bandit was forced to drop the sword. I picked it up and hit the hilt on his head. Knocking him out. Bandit number two down.

I looked around for Layla only to notice that she was not there. She must have kept following them. I concluded.

I quickly ran in the direction that I last saw her running. I did not have to run for very long though, because I saw Layla fighting the rest of the bandits by her self. So that was their plan. Distract me while they take Layla down themselves.

I was suddenly filled with fury, and I did not know why. Just the thought of anyone harming Layla made me furious!

I quickly ran over and punched the man who Layla was currently fighting. "Why you little..." he did not finish his sentence. Instead he swung his sword at me. They all make the same mistakes. I thought. I did exactally what I did to the other bandit, and soon he too was knocked out cold. This is too easy.

I watched Layla fight, and was amazed. She fought with such skill and agility, it was amazing! I could barely keep up with her. Apperantly neither could the bandit because he started swinging his sword around wildly.

Suddenly his sword caught on her cloak and he tore it clean off. My breath caught in my throat.

She was beautiful.

She had amazing knee length belong hair, flawless pale skin and hazel eyes, I already knew that much. But now I could see much more. She had knee length black high heeled boots that made her about two inches taller, black shorts with almost see through black tights, and a black shirt that showed her mid drift.  But she still had on her mask so I could not properly see her face. But what I could see were her eyes, and I saw fury in them. "That's it." she stated in a very clam manner. But that is what terrified the bandit the most. He started backing away from Layla.

I watched as Layla got into a very familiar stance. She spread of her feet and bent her legs. She pulled her arms to her side and shouted "Celestial Dragon Roar!" as soon as she said that she opened her mouth and, as crazy as it sounds, shot a ball of stars towards her oppenant. When the ball of stars reached its destination, they all started attacking the bandit, cutting him with their sharp edges. The stars slowly disappeared, and when they were all gone, all that was left and a very bruised and battered bandit.

After seeing this display, all the bandits instantly surrendered. They said they did not want to go against such a powerful opponent, so they would rather surrender.

The rest of the job was a blur. We brought all the bandits to the townsfolk, where they gave the bandits the punishment they deserved. We did not get to see what they chose to do, because we went to go get our payment.

After thanking us profusely, and giving us more then they owed us, the old couple finally let us leave. We walked to the train station, bought the tickets back to Magnolia, and boarded the train.

I could not stop thinking about what I had seen Layla do just a few hours before. Just who was she?
