Returning Home (Fairy Tail Fanfic)

chapter 7

Layla's POV

On the way back to my apartment, I thought about Natsu. I could only imagine all of the things he went through after what happened. Considering how everybody acted around and treated him, he probably went into depression shortly after it happened and the depression never went away. He had obviously stopped eating, and then there was the fact that he had not talked to anyone for years. He probably got looks of pity from so many people every day, and was probably tired of it all. The more I thought about it, the worse I felt.

I was pulled out of my train of thought when I realized I was home already. Huh, I guess muscle memory took me home. I thought.

I went to my room and placed my suitcase on my bed. I opened it and rummaged through it looking for one of my spare cloaks, seeing as the cloak I brought with me was shredded by that bandit. Once I found it I put it on, then made sure my mask was on correctly.

Once I had everything I needed, I quickly walked out and made my way to the guild. My timing was perfect, because I saw Natsu walking down the road towards the guild. I felt in a playful mood, so I raised my hand and yelled "Natsu! Hurry up!" he looked at me, then did the last thing I expected him to do.

He grained, ran up to me, grabbed my hand, pulled me toward the guild doors, and kicked them open while yelling "we're back!"

The response we got was amazing. The whole guild looked at us with astonishment, then a huge grin spread on everyone's faces. "Welcome back!" they all yelled.

A bunch of people surrounded Natsu and started talking to him. I was close enough that I could hear the first part of the conversation.

"Natsu, your talking again!" said Wendy, her voice full of excitement. "Yea... I guess..." Natsu said, his face getting red from all the attention. "Its nice to see you happy again." levy said.

I didn't hear the rest because I was pulled to the side by someone. I looked to see who it was and saw that it was mira and Erza.

"We just wanted to say thank you so much for giving the Natsu we know back to us. We were starting to think that he was gone." mira said, close to tears. "Yes, thank you so much!" Erza said, in the same condition as Mira. "Your welcome." I hesitated then added "but all I did was give him hope." I replied. "Hope? What do you mean?" mira asked, tilting her head to the side. "I noticed on my first day here that Natsu had given up on ever being happy or having anything good happen to him. He just needed a little nudge in the right direction, and I gave it to him!" I closed my eyes and give them a huge smile.

Suddenly I heard a huge crash and me, Erza and Mira looked toward the source of the sound. We all smiled once again when we found it. Natsu and Grey were fighting, throwing punches at each other and calling eachother names.

"Ice Princess!"
"Flame Brain!"
"Popsicle!"
"Pinky!"

Everyone watched them, then I started laughing. "Just like old times!"

All the people who were not fighting looked at me confused. "What do you mean? Were you here before?" I noticed my slip up and my whole face turned red. "You could say that..." I said after a few seconds. "Although I cannot tell you who I am right now. I will tell you someday though." I looked down, afraid that I had told them too much.

Suddenly Erza stood right in front of me and looked closely at me. "Why can't you tell us?" I sighed. "I just can't right now. Its too dangerous." I was rewarded with still confused stares. "That did not make any sence, did it?" I muttered to myself. I sighed again.

"I guess you deserve an explanation." I gave up.

I stood up on a table and yelled "everyone gather around! I am going to say something, and I am only going to say it once!"

everyone who was fighting instantly stopped and rushed over here, probably curious about what this mysterious woman that they knew nothing about had to say. Even master came out of his office to hear what I had to say.

" everyone here? Good." I nodded, then closed my eyes and took a deep breath. "It's time to tell you the story of how I almost died."

Sorry I have not updated in a while! I have just felt really unmotivated, but recently I decided to add another chapter. So I apologize if is a bit rushed. I will go back and fix it. (Btw, these authors notes will not become a regular thing, cause I know how annoying they can be.) well, until next time!
