She didn't back down all I could smell is the bloody iron, the metallic taste forming in my mouth. The bile rising to my throat but I held it back I had to stay strong for her.

"Your emotionally attached to people that won't love you but will use you" he kept the whip strong against her, "You'll always be worthless your a coward that runs from your fears" he should be saying that to me.

Dakota crossed his arms over his chest all his muscle tensed as he knew he could not interfere as that would be disrespect to the Alpha.

Derek flung his arm over my shoulder hugging me tightly I trembled as I stood useless watching her.

She stopped digging her claws into the bark she just sat there taking in everything he told her, he's creating a monster and a broken soul. She put her head against the tree every whip her body started shaking then it would freeze before the next hit.

I've never seen her break till now she shook nonstop "pathetic right Lewin?" my father waited for an answer when he didn't receive anything he returned to the whip.

"This might be your last breathe today so take it all in" his laugh created a uneasy feeling "Look how you'll end up dying...you really disappointed me this time" that was it for her, the breathing hitched I could almost smell the death of my own sister.

Derek held me back I wanted to save her I had to and I didn't want to be stopped. My vision blurry I listened to her heart dim to silence, I cried thrashing in his hold.

My father stopped as he was satisfied he stood watching in the background. Dakota instantly over to her untying the chains she laid there I couldn't tell if she was dead or alive.

"No no come back don't close your eyes" he was mortified the emotions pulling out of him,  I stopped as I crouched down to her side my hand trembling as I held hers.

Her breathing was faint but I still hear it, I saw some tiny wounds heal then work there way to the bigger cuts I was amazed.

I relaxed she'll be okay as for Dakota he didn't let his eyes leave her body not once. She tried to sit up but Dakota kept a tight grip keeping her on his lap.

We sat for hours in silence, Lewin still in her distant stare, the faint whip marks left a light pink scar scanning her entire back.

"I can get up" she huffed dragging her knees into a seating position Dakota got to his feet helping her up. He kissed her cheek scooping her in his arms gently, he nodded for everyone to leave.

"Lewin we shall rest for the day and get your better" the grave tone back the sound is very unpleasant. They walked down the hall leaving me to myself I worried for her life now not like before.

"Hun check on her tomorrow" my mother cooed softly getting me to relax. I nodded leaving it at that that, this day keeps getting worse.

I walked into my bathroom taking a cold shower trying to drain my thoughts from that horrid memory. My birthday is tomorrow and who knows what's going to happen, I might lose my sister she'll go running off with a man that might not even be her mate.

I should stop thinking of all this and get some rest that's well needed. I shut my eyes welcoming the darkness...

"Good morning sunshine wakey wakey" I groaned who the hell is waking me up I peaked over the covers "Helan leave me alone there's no training today" I yawned going back under the blankets.

"Did you forget it's your big day" she squealed "Your birthday silly" her body landed on my bed bouncing me off it. I growled already annoyed "Come on don't be grumpy on your birthday" her big brown puppy eyes always win me over I laughed sighing she's right this will only happen once.

"Let me change and we can go and get pancakes" my grin widened at the thought of pancakes. She clapped her hands excitedly as I raced to change into some relaxing clothes.

We piled into the kitchen seeing the fluffy huge pancakes waiting on plates my cheeky smile brought to me. "I had this specially done for you" Helan beamed towards me proud of what she's done I hugged her just thankful to have best friend like this.

"Where is Lewin" Dakota not so happy mood almost ruining the moment I have to explain this to everyone "She's with our father doing a run, she'll be back shortly" I gestured to sit but he didn't take my offer I shrugged it off.

"These are delicious" I groaned it has to be the best I've ever had so far. Helan's smile grew "Thank the ladies not me" she smirked I definitely wouldn't be here without her.

Just in time Lewin came into the kitchen her eyes alive and full of excitement "Morning everyone" my father announced greeting us we responded back.

Lewin ran to Dakota hugging him which he returned the favor instantly. They sat down and the mood took even a better turn I'm pleased it's not bad.

"How are you feeling Lewin" hesitantly easing my way into a conversation, her smile faded that cold distant look returning from last night, I wondered what else happened to her? Especially that she's not telling or what we haven't seen...

"I'm alive" her voice seemed completely off, "Happy birthday Lewin" I smiled kindly as her eyes didn't react like I was hoping for, "Happy birthday Lola" my smile grew that made my day.

Gray entered while wrapping his arms behind Lewin's waist as she sat on the chair her eyes twinkled "Happy birthday Lewin" he placed gentle kiss on her cheek, that only enraged Dakota.

"Hands off Gray" he snarled unpleasantly Gray didn't listen he picked her up bridal style swinging her around, I smiled at the playfulness between them hearing her laugh made it better.

"Well are we gonna celebrate tonight" Derek screamed charging in the room practically giving me a heart attack.

I laughed "Yes we are" I stood from my seat grabbing Helan's hand ready to start our fun. "Where do you think your going" I froze my father was in another crappy mood.

"Going out to celebrate our birthdays" I smiled brightly "we have work to do then after you can go" my smile disappeared, why can't we have day off for our birthday.

"Like what?" I'm not even excited for whatever he has planned. "Your not skipping the pack training for fun" he's not even joking.

"Yes Alpha" I bowed he nodded approving my answer, "Lewin go get ready your with me today" her emotions flat to existent.

"Yes sir I'll meet you there" she ran out of the room "Lola you'll be in the usual" he informed while excusing himself.

"I hate this" I grumbled Helan agreeing, Fuck this I stormed to the backyard everyone stood still in formation.

Lewin caught up to our father standing stiffly the wolves bowed as she pasted, they all had such high respect for her they would do anything to protect her.

The groups separated in the corner of my eyes I could see my father hold Lewin by her throat saying something to her then shoving her away from him.

What's with his deal lately towards her?
