Ashes from the Sky
Kisuke inspected the dust spec that he had collected from the scene and furrowed his eyebrows, "Hm." "What is it?" Ichigo popped up first from his seat. Kisuke turned around with his usual cheerful look on his face, "Ash." Ichigo looked confused, "Huh?" "The dust spec is ash you moron!" Tatsuki smacked him on the back of his head in frustration. Ichigo held his head, "Ow!"
"Can you tell us from who it's from?" Ichigo asked recovering from the damage. "I can't tell you who it's from, but I can tell you that it's from a zanpakuto – one with a canine spirit, they work specifically with ash substances. However only somebody with a canine spirited zanpakuto can tell you who it's from and also is the only one who can cause fatal injuries to the wielder of this zanpakuto." Kisuke said casually fanning himself.
Ichigo sighed in frustration, "Now what? Nobody has a canine spirited zanpakuto." Tatsuki rolled her eyes and restrained herself from smacking Ichigo again for stating the obvious. "Well that's not entirely true." Kisuke said, "Mae has a canine spirited zanpakuto." Ichigo contained his rage as best he could, "What's that gonna help?!"
Grimmjow had managed to slip away without being noticed and sullenly went upstairs to Mae's room. It had been left just the way it was, neat and tidy. Her array of books that she enjoyed were placed neatly side by side filling an impressive tall mahogany bookshelf that took up the whole west wall. Her black and white double bed set was perfect and her desk was placed against the north wall with her computer and research books Grimmjow remembered she'd use for school projects and helped him. Her Sony stereo system took most of the space on her desk though.
Her walk in bathroom was as always clean and spotless, the towels hung neatly and her hair products where they needed to be and her signature perfumes were neatly in a row on the top shelf. Mae never considered herself a perfectionist she just enjoyed it when her room was clean and neat.
On her reading table in the center of three lush bean bags where multiple colored orchids in a clear crystal vase; they were still fresh and he could smell their scent when the light breeze of the open French doors came through. He supposed Yoruichi and Ururu kept the place maintained; opening the windows and keeping the flowers alive. He had often thought of the memories they had in this room, from fights to study sessions; he hated both equally.
Mae was lying peacefully on her stomach with her right arm hanging off the side of the bed limply. She had her head pressed into the pillow and her hair was in a messy bun but her loose ends hung carelessly in her face. She had fallen asleep quite early this evening after a long day of shopping with the girls. She had spent about three hours sorting out her bought goods and showing Grimmjow her clothes. Naturally he thought they were all sexy even if it was just a simple white Jane Norman dress.
Grimmjow came out from the bathroom and crawled in next to her and placed his hands at the sides of her ribcage and leaned down to give her back a soft gentle kiss and trailed up her spine. Mae woke up at the soft touch and smiled into her pillow. Nothing was said, only the rain outside was heard. Suddenly there was a rumbling noise followed by a loud bang and Grimmjow jumped and grabbed Mae and buried his face into her back. She giggled, "Grimmjow..." "What was that?" Grimmjow asked innocently.
Mae could understand his sudden surprise and fear, in Heuco Mundo there was basically no weather change at all. Grimmjow was still learning what these things were. Mae reached behind her and put a hand on his arm. She turned around and he enveloped her into a cuddle; wrapping his legs and arms around her like a koala on a tree. She found this cute and held his hands in hers. "It's just the storm." Mae said but her words fell on deaf ears.
Grimmjow snapped out of his memory when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He looked down to see an innocent looking Ururu, she went a deep red and smiled up at him, "Uhm, excuse me but I need to get passed." She lowered herself down from her tippy toes and brought her arm down and placed both hands on the water flask she was holding. "Sorry..." Grimmjow said and moved out of the way to let her through to Mae's room before leaving.
