Meeting the Enemy

The Soul Society was quiet and it was a little unnerving, but Hiretsune knew he had this cat in the bag. The shinigami were off defending Karakura Town and the far parts of the Seretei. The Head Captain was all by himself and there was nobody to stop him. A smirk spread across his face and oh was he happy about this. If Yamamoto refused to make him Captain in the past then he would just play God and do it himself.

Opening the large Japanese doors he found Yamamoto with his bitter face waiting for him across the room. Hiretsune wielded his zanpakuto gracefully with experience. He knew that at this stage Yamamoto was not going to be in the talking mood so he just went for it and swung his zanpakuto at the head Captain; a foolish move he had concluded at the last minute but to his surprise there was no reaction. Instead the Head Captain deflated like a dummy. It was at this point he knew that he was not going to be battling the head captain.

There was a feint smell of vanilla scent behind him and he instantly turned around to meet the eyes of another soul; just barely missing the blade of her zanpakuto. She was suddenly a few meters away from him; impressed by this he examined his new opponent. The top portion of her light blonde almost pale hair was tied into a messy bun and the bottom half hung loosely over her chest and her back. She seemed to be relaxed almost; wearing a pair of white shorts, a white tank top with a black loose overlay and a pair of grey flat ankle boots. Hiretsune was rather just interested in her Captain's haori that flowed softly in the light breeze behind her. "And who are you?" Hiretsune leaned to the side on the hilt of his zanpakuto as he made eye contact with the shinigami.

"I could ask you the same question." Mae said examining him; he was a tall slender man wearing black robes and had long black hair. His eyes crimson, Mae recalled Gin's eyes and felt a shimmer of shivers run down her spine.

"I'm Kogeki, Hiretsune." Hiretsune said smugly. He was rather relaxed by her presence, "Now you tell me your name..." Mae's lips parted but somebody else spoke instead, "Her name is none of your concern." Mae didn't need to turn around to know it was Grimmjow who was standing behind her. He had his hands shoved in his pockets casually and his left side tilted more to the front; his gaze on Hiretsune's.

"Oh, Captain Jaegerjaquez, I must say I'm impressed you are still awake." Hiretsune was genuinely impressed. "Grimmjow you're an idiot, what are you doing here?" Mae growled through her teeth. "I'm not going to let you fight on your own and die." Grimmjow said sternly. "I'm not going to let you die for my sake." Mae said as she drew zanpakuto.

"I'm not doing this for you; I'm doing this for the sake of the other shinigami out there that have been harmed and might even die because of this son of a bitch." Grimmjow said and drew Pantera. Half of this was a lie, he didn't want to lose Mae but he was doing this for the other shinigami too. He cursed himself for becoming so soft.

"I see you two have met... Do you know each other well?" Hiretsune smirked as he shifted his balance and stood up straight. "Too well." Grimmjow and Mae said at the same time.

Hirestune grinned and drew Jakkaru out of his scabbard and held the beautiful blade to his side. "I know her well enough to know she'd leave the ones she loves for her own pity!" Grimmjow yelled and ran towards Hiretsune. Mae followed him not even a millisecond later, she was at his side, "I know him well enough to know that he's an arrogant bastard who doesn't understand a thing of what I was going through!" Grimmjow growled, "I know her well enough to know she's too stubborn to talk to me about it!" "I know him well enough to know he wouldn't listen to me!" Mae yelled in anger and swung Haru no ōkami at Hiretsune. Hiretsune used his flashstep to move to another point. He was very interested in this scene.
