After a long interrogation, Yuki and Yuno labeled me as harmless, but still didn't want me giving their location away. They considered just killing me, but Yuki voted against it, feeling it was morally wrong.

I was lucky enough that my phone never made a sound while around them. I couldn't let them find out that I was the diary owner. They'd kill me in a heartbeat.

Two days went by and they still had no suspicions. I told them I had no family or home, which was technically true in this world.

My diary didn't tell me much, except for the occasional "I'm afraid they don't like me" or "They almost caught me on my phone".

Once, we were out on the streets and someone spotted Yuno's pink hair, calling her out. Yuno reached into her pocket for a knife, but I removed my hood and flashed him my sidecut. I was trying to imply that we were a weird set of kids and he got the idea.

While on the trip outside, Yuki and Yuno heard their names on a nearby television and ran to it, trying to see if the media had anything new to say about them.

A few paces behind them, my phone became fuzzy and sounded static again. Making sure the couple didn't see me, I pulled it out and read:

"A scruffy looking man is trying to mug Yuki and no one is sure what to do. I feel as though it is up to me to make a move. I had to have had some personal growth by now."

Stuffing the phone back in my pocket, I caught back up to the diary owners. The mugging was destined to happen, unless Yuki's diary gave him the memo as well and he tried to intervene. I couldn't let that happen. This could be my chance to get them to like me. As of now, everything was so uncertain that I could never tell if they were going to kill me or throw me out. I need them for protection, maybe even camoflauge until the week is over.

"Still no word on the missing teenagers," the anchorman announced on T.V. "Fourteen year olds Yukiteru Amano and Yuno Gasai haven't been seen by friends or family for several days."

"Nothing new," Yuno said, turning to walk again. "Let's keep moving."

"Not that way," Yuki said, grabbing Yuno's arm. "My diary says-"

"Why not?" I interrupted, shoving past them. "What's the big deal? You guys ran away, probably because you killed people or something."

"How would you know?" Yuno snapped as Yuki dragged her along behind us. "At the very least, let us lead. We're in charge. Not you." She pulled out of Yuki's grip and got in front of me.

Everyone remained quiet and kept walking. We got to the end of the block and turned the corner, finding a dirty, smelly, hairy man. He turned to us and we kept our faces hidden.

Seeming to be a beggar, he asked for money.

"Sorry, sir, we have none," came Yuki's reply.

"Everyone does," answered the man in a shaky voice. "You can't make it in this world without it. So I'll ask again. You got any money?"

He stepped closer to us, and I purposely started backing into a dark alley. Yuki and Yuno followed. I noticed Yuno getting antsy, just dying to kill this person she was certain was going to hurt Yuki, but not wanting to draw attention to herself. If things got too rough, she wouldn't be able to control herself, even more so in the dark area we were headed. I had until then to do something, the first step being finding a weapon before Yuno did.

He kept coming onto us, backing us up further into the alley. Yuki kept trying to solve the issue verbally, and while he had the guy distracted, I picked up a large piece of broken glass.
