"...have you been eating raw sugar packets again?" The young boy asked his twin.

"No!" Mabel had thought he'd want to investigate! Not be cray-cray!

"Well, if this is real, where is it?"

"I already told you! Gideon took it!" Mabel screeched, frustrated.

"Oh."

"I'll show you once we retrieve MJ!"

"Okay then. Tomorrow."

"Now."

"There's no arguing this, is there?"

"Nope!"

(Timeskip brought to you by Bud Gleeful!)

"You say Gideon took a small journal of yours?" Bud Gleeful asked to clarify.

Dipper and Mabel sat on the couch adjacent to him.

"Yes, Mr. Gleeful. It's a small leather-bound journal with triangular designs on the front."

"I think he had that when he came home today. I'll go get him." Bud said, getting up.

Bud left, and brought back a frustrated looking Gideon, and sat him down on a chair.

"What did y'all want, Pines?" Gideon asked in his attitude-y way.

"Gideon, this here girl says you took her journal. Is this true?"

"Course not! I wouldn't steal!" Gideon lied.

"Gideon," Mabel spoke, "it's small, leather-bound, and has small triangle designs on the front."

"Never seen it in mah life!"

"Then you wouldn't mind us looking in your room?" Dipper asked him.

"I would mind!"

"So you have it?" Mabel inquired.

"No!"

"So we could look for it here?" Dipper asked him again.

"I would mihnd if y'all searched near mah bed!"

"Mabel," Bud cut in, "he has it, he's lyin'."

"I can buy and sell you old man!" Gideon shouted.

"I can report theft." Dipper said calmly.

Mabel saw something out of the corner of her eye. She had no clue what it was, but an area near Dipper's left ear flashed gold. Yellow-gold, with a bit of black.

A brick patterned jacket flashed through her mind, which she quickly shook out.

Apparently, Gideon had gotten up to get MJ.

He came back, saying, "I could never read this damn'd thing anyway, so y'all take it back!"

He threw it on my lap, and Bud went to scold Gideon for swearing.

Dipper and I let ourselves out, along with MJ.

Once we were back at the Shack, he finally spoke.

"Okay Mabel, show me how this works."

Mabel opened the book to a blank page.

"Hey MJ. What's up?"

Dipped gave her a look that said "talking to it, really?"

Runes scribbles themselves across the page, turning into letters.

Dipper read it.

Rwkk tiye veirgwe gu. Gw xlb'r ewls nw la qwkk la tiy xln.

It kept scribing, but Dipper was confused. It was all nonsensical!

Mabel read it.

Tell your brother hi. He can't read me as well as you can.

Gideon is evil, he made my magic power go down quite a bit. Don't tell Dipper this.

Gideon took my pages and ripped them out, scribed on them with black ink I wasn't able to erase. He's evil.

Anyways, Mabel. Why'd you tell Mason about me?

"Dip, MJ says hi."

"Um. Hi."

He's awkward.

"Tell me about it!" Mabel giggled.

"Anyways," spoke Mabel, "I told him in order to help you return here!"

"Mabel, how can you even read that?" Dipper asked, astonished.

"I dunno."

"Oh." Oh.
