A week ago, the twelve-year old brunette had taken a tumble down the stairs, chasing after her canister of glitter.
Her left arm had broken, but luckily, her twin brother was there through the whole ordeal, and made sure to inform her that her arm would heal right before school ended.
Mabel, the brunette girl, had made sure she had enough sweaters to wear a new one everyday, and was satisfied with the answer.
If only that was her proudest moment, as the yellow man said. But she didn't remember the deal.
Three weeks later, she fell off a chair in school.
I don't know why or how, so don't ask me!
Except, that was most definitely not her proudest moment. If only she'd remember.
Pretty soon, summer had arrived, the cast was removed, and Mabel and her twin, Dipper, were shipped off to Gravity Falls in Oregon.
Mabel was optimistic about it, it had always been her way of looking at things. After age 5, that is.
She was especially optimistic because her cast was gone, and she was also filled to the brim with extra-over-the-top pent up energy.
Her twin had a different perspective. Dipper was Mabel's "other half" or "opposite". Whereas Mabel was optimistic, Dipper really didn't like his new surroundings. There was simply nothing interesting!
Until one fateful day, the day when logical-thinking Dipper discovered Journal 3 in the woods.
Dipper had shared it with her, yes, but Mabel kept something secret from Dipper. A larger secret than the journal.
Only because, later on that night, Mabel had snuck out while everyone was asleep, and gone to the "tomb of the journal", as Dipper had dubbed it, and opened the metal tree.
You see, she had found something even more interesting.
It was a small, leather-bound book, and all its pages were blank except for the first spread.
It had a detailed fairy tale written out in small script.
Mabel started reading on the second page of it, once she was home and in bed.
"She had fallen for their trap, to become their queen. Why? I have no clue. The girl, oh, well, her brother had swooped in at the right moment and together they thought they defeated the army of pointy-hatted weird creatures of the forest. They rode away, until the creatures chased them. Given that these things were less than 2 feet tall, you wouldn't expect them to pile one on top of the other to create a giant version of themselves. The girl knew she had to be clever to get out of this mess, so she--"
Mabel looked up, and saw the door to her and her brothers bedroom open. She quickly hid the small book under her pillow, and in came her brother.
"Mabel! I was worried! I thought you got eaten by a zombie or something!"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I went out to find fairies!" Mabel chided, lying to her twin.
"You could've gotten killed without having the journal!"
"Well, I'm okay! I promise to never do it again!"
Dipper got in his pajamas, and in bed, satisfied with the answer Mabel gave him.
