I woke up laying on Willow's fuzzy coat, but for the first time ever I had positive thoughts. Like literally hey where saying to me, "good morning" and "today's going to be a good day!". Not believing those thoughts I opened my eyes and got off of Willows back. Sweeping the horse fur off of me, my brain flooded with negative thoughts again. The devil has taken over again. Honestly I think today is going to be worse then ever. Going to a horse competition was fun unless Kayla was there. Starting to brush Willow for the day, I knew it wasn't going to end up well.
3 HOURS LATER:
We had finally made it to Red deer, getting out of the truck and slamming the door I could feel my nerves get hyped up. God this isn't good I dint need Willow to feel this way too. Putting her bridle on and then her full shaped pad and white quilted pad with black lining. Next it was her jumping saddle, it was pitch black with her name plate on it. Getting on her I noticed Kayla was here and I walked Willow up to the ring to warm her up, Kayla came over and of course had a snotty remark. "Ha you actually think your going to win"
"Actually I came her to compete, not to win" I said back happily and eased Willow into a trot then a canter, after cantering around the rink 10 times I attempted one of the higher jumps u knew she could do. Going up into 2 point position I felt her body lift under me and I leaned back as she landed. Luckily negative thoughts never flooded my body when I was on Willow. It was almost like she had an angel within her that made the devil go away. Although when you go to halter her, I swear the angel disappears from within her.
Finally it was my turn as the announcer announced "number 12 Shayla Carlago please enter the ring". Trotting Willow into the ring I noticed the first jump was a 3 foot so I pushed her forward into a canter, and soon enough we where flying over the jump. The next one was a 3.5 foot jump and again I was flying over the jump, the next was a 4 foot jump and again we cleared it. The course flew by and soon enough I was off Willow the announcer announced I had a score of 19 out of 20 and a item of 42.86. The next contestant was Kayla, I swear she knocked over every jump. Everyone but still ended up winning.
On the way home my dad was cussing and swearing under his breath so I climbed in the back. His long legs prevented me from sitting on his side and his brown hair was spiked up making him look even angrier. Sometimes I hated him for this but he is always going to be my dad. Not that I was happy about it but still.
1 HOUR LATER:
When we where returning Willow she decided to buck in the trailer and now I have a huge bruise on me but I forgave her because I made lots of noise. By the time we got home my leg was swollen and my mom wanted to take me to the hospital but I didn't let her , I just took lots of Tylenol. My mom was still worried but I still didn't care, I was so tired I just wanted to sleep. So that's what I did as I slowly drifted of too sleep positive thoughts consumed me, maybe I didn't win but I had fun.
