Thing were getting tense when the party ended, I put Nina down for bed and both Angel and Teo was blowing up my phone.
The judge that assigned to our case retired so we got a new one, she said we would have a quick DNA test that day or have the whole process redone like everyone else when we were ready. Of course Angel wanted the test right there and then, we did it. When the results showed wasn't the father he asked me to still be in Nina's life and I said yes. The only other person who I slept with (condoms or not) was Mateo.
"Hello Angel" I said aggravated from the missed call from Mateo
"What wrong with you" he said pretending to be hurt
"It's nothing"
"Well I'm calling to see if I can pick up Nina tomorrow, for a little time together" he explained, I shrugged
"Fine with me"
"Okay I'll be there at 6 bye"
We hung up and I called back Mateo, he answered on the first ring.
"Why the hell you can't answer the phone, 'Oh"
"You don't control me I was busy"
"We need to talk about this" he said, heard a knock in my window and turned it was him
"Stop banging I'm just getting her to sleep" I said into the phone and opening the window.
He came in and looked over at her in my bed and smiled. She wasn't sleep she was drinking a bottle and staring.
"Why she always starin" he said pinching her check, she didn't show any emotions
"I don't know, she only does that with you"
"Are y'all moving back in" he said looking at Nina
"No" I whispered, he pretended he couldn't hear me "it's better for us here"
By this time Nina sat up and finished her bottle, she was just staring. I was kinda getting weird cause it looked like she was getting closer to his face.
"So umm that modeling ain't working out?" He asked playing with my hand
"Since Nina's going to be a toddler soon and I wanna get back to dancing instead but she said she'll always have a spot open for me"
"Yo ugly ass need to get back to modeling" he teased, I slapped his arm soflty
"Now I'm ugly?" I pouted
"No i was kidding you know you not ugly" he said, pointing to my kindergarten picture

Just then I watched as Nina balanced herself on his shoulder and put her mouth on his check, it was so sweet
"Your her first kiss aww" I cooed
"She likes me" he said as she sat in his lap
"You like dada" I said in my baby voice,
"Dada?" She said she pointing to my phone, she was referring to Angel but it was only obvious to me
"About that, is she really mine?" He asked, I nodded
"You knew the whole time, didn't you" he mumbled
"No Mateo, I didn't know and the fact that you was there anyway is amazing thank you" I said grabbing his face and kissing his cheek
"Look at her Ny'Ome she's growing up not knowing who her real father is this ain't right, if I knew I could of been there" he yelled
"What do you want me to do now, go back in time? Make Angel stop loving her? Make her stop loving him?" I yelled
"I don't want that no good ass nigga with my daughter"
"I don't care Mateo she's not only your daughter, she's mine too, don't start with me"
