Chapter 2 ~ Just Friends

Joe groaned as he heard his alarm clock and rolled out of bed. He brushed his teeth and had a shower, then walked over to Caspar's room. 

"Caspar! Get up, we've gotta leave in about 40 minutes." he said as he saw that Caspar was still lying in bed fast asleep.

"Wh..what?" Asked Caspar sleepily, "Oh right yeah I'm up." 

And he attempted to jump out of bed but tripped over his own legs and fell on his ass. He scowled at Joe as Joe laughed. 

"You try having long legs like mine and you'll see it's not as easy as it looks." He muttered. 

Joe continued laughing and went back to his room to get dressed. He put on black skinny jeans and a tshirt, then grabbed a hoodie before heading upstairs to make breakfast. He decided to make waffles. He then made tea as well and Caspar still hadn't come upstairs. 

"Hurry the fuck up! I've made breakfast." He shouted down. 

"Hold on, I'm getting dressed. Unless you want me to come upstairs naked." Caspar laughed. 

"No I'd rather you didn't." Joe replied laughing. 

Five minutes later Caspar came up the stairs and walked over to the table.

"Took you long enough." Joe joked. 

Caspar was about to respond when he saw the waffles and tea on the table. 

"Aw thanks Joe." He said smiling at him. 

Joe smiled back.

"No problem babe." He said. 

Caspar stared at him. 

"Did you just call me babe?" He asked smirking. 

Joe looked up at him. 

"Obviously not, I said mate." He laughed. Did I say babe? Nah I definitely said mate. 

"Alright," Caspar said, "sounded like babe to me." 

"Anyway," Joe changed the subject, "hurry up and finish your breakfast if you want to stop at Starbucks on the way to Zoe's."  

Caspar sat down and began eating his waffles.

"We don't have to go to Starbucks you know?"

"I'm really in the mood for  a caramel frappe though. Besides I owe you for the pizza, remember?" Joe replied as he too stuffed his mouth with waffles. 

"Oh yeah. And now that you mention it I do really want a chocolate chip frappe. They're my favourite." Caspar said between bites. 

"Yeah I know. It's the only thing you get at Starbucks. Every time we go." Joe laughed. 

Caspar laughed too and finished off his breakfast. 

"Okay let's go." He said. 

Joe got up and grabbed the house keys and his hoodie and they put on their shoes. 

"I already called an uber, it should be here any minute to take us to the train station." 

When Joe got a text that the über was there, they went out of the apartment and he locked the door. 

The whole journey was filled with polite small talk with the driver and when they finally got to the train station Joe was relieved. The driver didn't really talk much and it was a bit awkward. 

The train journey was completely different. Caspar and Joe talked and laughed the whole way there and when they reached their stop, Joe was surprised that they were there already. You know what they say, time flies when you're having fun. 

"There's a Starbucks right over there." Joe pointed as they started to walk from the train station to the Zalfie household. 

They went inside and ordered their drinks. 

"That'll be £8" said the cashier. 

Caspar reached for his wallet but Joe grabbed his hand. 

"I already told you, I've got this one." Joe smiled at him. 

"Okay, okay." He smiled back. 

Joe handed the money to the girl.

"You're so lucky to have a sweet boyfriend like that." She said to Caspar. 

They laughed. 

"Oh no it's not like that." Joe said. 

"Yeah, we're just friends." Caspar smiled at the girl who now looked extremely embarrassed. 

"Omg I am so sorry. You guys just look so cute together and I just thought.." She trailed off.

"It's alright," Joe assured her, "we're really close. I can see why you might have thought that." 

They got their drinks and walked out still laughing. 

"I can't believe she thought we're a couple." Joe said. 

"I know," Caspar replied, "it's a funny story to tell at Zalfie's." 

"True." Joe agreed and they headed off down the street towards their house.
