Promise¥

I woke up to an empty bed and a note. I stretched and reached over to the pillow beside mine and read it.

Promise,

I'll be out of town for the week. I hope that the money I left on the dresser will be enough. See you when I get back. Love you.

-A.j.

I couldn't help but smile at the note. It's something he's never done before and just the simple gesture makes me happy. I still think back to early this morning and everything that we did. It was amazing but I didn't feel the connection once I thought about Amir. Speaking of Amir, I need to hit him up. I got the whole week to do what I want without worrying about Aj.

I hopped out of bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower. After my fifteen minutes under the hot water I got out and did the rest of my hygiene. I walked back into my room with a towel wrapped around me and walked to the window. I peered outside to see it was beautiful but windy. Being july I knew it was blazing outside.

I decided on a yellow sundress that stopped at my feet and some gold sandals. I put my curly hair into a high bun with some strands hanging out. I put on some mascara and some shimmery lip gloss. Once I looked myself over and approved I walked to my nightstand and grabbed my phone.

I plopped down on the lounge couch in my room and sifted through my purse to get the flyer with Amir's number on it. I programmed his number in my phone and decided to call him since I hated texting. We live in an age where people text more than they talk and I just can't do it.

I clicked on his name and waited for him to pick up. It rung a few times then went to voicemail. I was disappointed that he didn't answer but then again he didn't even know my number. I decided to call again and leave a message if he didn't answer this time. I called again and it went to voicemail.

"Hey Amir, its Promise. I just wanted to see what you were up to today. Hit me back. Byeee." I said ending the call. I sat my phone down in my lap and leaned back into the couch. I really didn't have anything to do and it's just a coincidence that Aj is gone, and this is the time I should be happy to have free time.

What makes it worse is the fact I don't have any friends to chill with. I should make new friends but you just can't trust people now days. If anything I would befriend males but most would try to be more than friends and I don't need that shit. I sat there just staring at the ceiling hoping Amir would save me from my boredom.

Five minutes had passed and I just gave up waiting for him. I sat up and grabbed my purse and headed out the door. I started my car and pulled out the driveway, making my way onto the highway. I had decided since today was sunday I would do something I haven't done in four years. It would take almost an hour to get there but it was worth the drive.

(An hour later)

I pulled into 'Saint Augustine' s Memorial Garden' and cut the engine. I got out and popped my trunk to put my purse in since I didn't want to carry it with me. I grabbed my phone and locked the doors behind me as I walked out into the open field. I walked through the winding path of tombstones and admired all the beautiful colorful flowers that were spread out among each one.

A few minutes later and I stopped and knelt down in front of the two black granite stones. 'Isabella Martina Smith-Howard 1966-2006', 'William Devon Howard Jr. 1965-2008'. I touched their names and sighed. My mother and Father. So many memories came rushing to me and I couldn't help but smile.

'Flashback'

'Oh my lord baby you look gorgeous!' she exclaimed touching my ruffled watermelon dress.
