A/N I was sleepy when I wrote this so feel free to pick at anything that's majorly wrong or whatever :3 I was going to read world war z and then I thought 'I want to have a zombie story' so here we are a start of one that I'll hopefully stick with :D

Prologue:

The idea of a ‘Zombie apocalypse’ once seemed ridiculous, fake. I would get freaked out at such a stupid idea. But in increase of age, I’ve realised just how fucked up the world is; the amount of disease that kills people, the amount of people dying because we can’t stop it, the amount of drugs tested to help people.

What if one day something goes wrong? Tragic enough for those you know and those you don’t starting to change in a negative way. Gruesome displays of strangers and faces you once recognised becoming grey with black veins that pulsate through the thinnest layer of delicate deathly-paled skin. People resurrecting from death in a much less dignified way, in opposition to Jesus or the reincarnation of people to butterflies, or other religious beliefs.

What can I do when my best friend, the guy I’ve loved for several years becomes one of those things? I can’t kill him, well he’s already dead or so I think. I don’t know majorly mutated. I try to help him. And I definitely do NOT keep him in the basement of my house (my room), in my ensuite and feed him whatever I can find so he won’t eat me…

………………………………………………………………………………..

“Gerard! Can you at least tell him to shut up? I’m trying to learn bass and I can’t concentrate with his moaning!” More like trying to learn the bass to impress Ray for more tongue action. Ugh I should not have thought that, gross.

“Fine” I shout, dropping my shoulders and placing my coffee on the table to find something in the fridge for Frank.

Ugh there’s only a little chicken left, I’ll have to go out again in search of more food, I shut the door in a huff and drag myself to my room, passing the front door, light seeps in through the wooden barricades signifying morning. I peer at my watch and see it’s only 8:30 am, I only fed Frank an hour ago damn it.

“Frank I’m coming okay” I pronounce clearly and slow for my friend, as I walk down the stairs and to the bathroom door. I pause and turn placing the plate of chicken on my shelf. I dig my right hand into the pocket pouch of my baggy trousers to find my assortment of keys; The locks are needed so he won’t, you know eat me, tear my flesh apart with teeth and scratch my face while chewing of my ear. So he doesn’t devour his best friend with my blood dripping down from his mouth and onto the floor with me screaming for dear life. I’ve seen it happen to Mrs Carlos on her front lawn, so ten locks is kind of necessary.

I unlock nine of the locks and pause to grab the spray bottle that sits next to the plate of chicken, on the shelf. Frank’s hand’s weaving its way through the crack of the door, he hisses at the water I spray and stumbles to the furthest wall from me.

Satisfied, I open the last lock, pull the string to light the room and stand with the plated chicken and throw chunks at him. Like a starved animal he tries to capture it with his mouth but fails each time, having to bend and reach for it from the floor. I chuckle at his enthusiasm and throw some more having not noticed a piece to fall of the plate and onto the floor right by my foot.

In his primal state, Frank jumps toward it, he goes to nip at my leg in the sudden notion. The better option. I spray some more water at him and he hisses and retreats to the wall.

“Bad!” I tell him which in reply he whimpers.

I’m still convinced that he’s in there somewhere. The real Frank.

I stare at him because I miss his once hazel brown eyes that I grew to love. They stare back at me completely black and dead. His lips chapped and faded, his nose and lip ring both torn out and probably eaten by himself leaving harsh scabs on his nose and corner of his small mouth. Black fringe sticking in all different directions and the blonde shorter side looks matted and sticky. Even with him being a Zombie or a mutated being, I know he’s still in there with the way he responds to me whenever I talk. He’ll whimper like he’s ashamed or embarrassed and he’ll dive and thrash around for things with just as much energy he would have had when we messed around at band practice.

I get to my knees, knowing that my thoughts won’t do anything to improve the scenario and pick the chicken from the floor that he had dived for earlier and throw it at him. He slides down the wall after missing the catch and devours it in the instant of placing it into his mouth with his hands.

“Good, now please stop moaning?” I sigh backing out of the bathroom making sure to shut the door and turn the light off, as I do so. Once the door clicks shut he’s banging at it like he wants to be free, but I can’t feel for him, he’s a zombie. If I let him out he’ll try to kill us all, and I can’t kill him.

With the door firmly locked again, I go to find Mikey and Ray in a tired state. I can keep a pet hamster easily but keeping Frank isn’t.

“How is he?” Ray asks looking genuinely interested as I slump on to Mikey’s bed between each of their crossed legs, not really caring that I’ve probably annoyed them, with my presence, well at least Mikey. Ray doesn’t seem to mind whenever I interrupt, he has that understanding sort of nature where he’s happy to listen whenever. I turn to Mikey and see him frowning, I return the favour sticking out my tongue like a child and look up to Ray’s nervous smile.

“Hmmm how ever good he can be really, but without the water I’m sure he would have eaten me by now” I sigh and release a big breathe dramatically.

“No he won’t like you said he’s showing improvement”

“I guess, but you don’t see the way he can change so sudden into a monster.” Pause “he tried eating my leg”

Mikey laughs, fucking laughs.

“Hey don’t be an asshole!” I smile at Mikey half-serious, Ray holds his hands over his mouth trying to stifle laughter.

“Oh whatever, let it out then, go on laugh at how pathetic I am” I smile, holding onto the dribble that threatens to leave my upturned mouth.

“S- s- s- sorry, but your leg…” giggles “we’d have to keep the two of you in that bathroom!”

“Geeee thanks Ray” I roll my eyes at the idiots laughing before me

“At least you’ll get what you always wanted, being with Frank. I mean?”

“You mean what Mikey?” I ask curious, Ray’s face now serious and matching mine.

Mikey plays a lopsided smile on his face answering “Zombie sex!”

“Wha-a-at!!” I’m so confused, seriously that’s probably not even possible

“You’re sick” Rays eyebrows crease

“But, but, imagine how loud the moans would be?”

“Mikey that’s disgusting, please stop?” Ray whines

I stare at Mikey amazed he could even think such a weird thing, mouth wide open in an ‘o’ and my eyes widened as though I’ve just seen the most shocking thing in my whole entire life. I snap into reality and ask about changing the subject.

“Can you please just show me what you’ve learnt on bass now?” I whine with both Mikey and Ray’s attention focused on my face “I kind of want to forget you ever said that.”

Ray nods enthusiastically while Mikey rolls his eyes and sighs ‘fine’ starting to play ‘die die my darling.’
