Alright fam this is a serious topic now.
as you probs saw from the title: Tyler's tattoos.
Now. Tyler has said before that his tattoos are special to him, and the only meaning we can know is that it is related to the song Kitchen Sink, a now unreleased song but you can find anywhere online and is even a part is performed during a medley in the middle of the emotional roadshow (tour name of 2016-2017) concert.
If you don't know the song Kitchen Sink, go listen. It's worth it.
Anyways, in that song Ty directly talks about how searching or creating purpose for yourself can give you purpose. In several interviews, he has stated that something important had happened to him at a Kitchen Sink, and in his darkest hour (what he likes to call those moments when you're questioning whether or not you should even be alive) he uses that moment at a Kitchen Sink to push past it and keep living and fighting.
There is a line directly in Kitchen Sink in which Tyler wrote, "I'm a kitchen sink, you don't know what that means. Because a kitchen kink to you is not a kitchen sink to me, okay friend?"
This is important because in said interviews, Tyler has said keeping that thing that happened to him that only he knew, that only he got- his purpose, his meaning he found at a kitchen sink- that keeps himself alive. To tell anyone else or to have anyone else find out what that meaning is, would essentially be to take away his purpose from him.
So pay attention ya'll.
This is really important. Some people like to talk about Tyler's tattoos, or what a Kitchen Sink might mean to Tyler. And thats okay- if you're talking privately (NOT ONLINE) to a friend alone, where your words won't be repeated. But that's entirely different than theorizing what Tyler's tattoos or what a Kitchen Sink means to him in a tweet or post online or publicly, or tagging Tyler in things asking him to tell you. First off, he won't. And secondly, even if he did- why would you want to do that to him? To take away his purpose like that? Don't. Find your own Kitchen Sink. And I don't mean that rudely- I'm searching for my Kitchen Sink. And to me, a Kitchen Sink has become my own symbol of purpose and staying alive, different to Tyler's. So find your own fam.
Don't ask Tyler, don't tag him in things, don't theorize online, don't do that.
Leave him alone.
*wink wink at everyone who just got my terrible reference*
Now all that being said, Tyler won't ever get mad at you for doing those things. And its okay if you did and didn't know- but it's important that you do not do any of that above now since you know now. Don't try and take Tyler's purpose away. Also, Tyler's tattoos- its okay if you want to get tattoos like his. There are stories online about people who got tattoos like his, and instead of being mad or disappointed he seemed genuinely excited like a "little child jumping up and down" asking questions and stuff. He'll probably say those are pretty sick tbh. In the past (years ago when tøp was a genuinely small band) he once said if you ask him about his tattoos in person and not tell anyone he would tell you, but he won't over the internet- he doesn't want them online. I cant say for sure, but personally I'm 90% sure this isn't the same as today considering the size of the band now.
So anyways, don't theorize about any of that alright? One last thing.
Possible trigger warning up ahead, you can skip the ending if you like - really not bad at all just wanna warn ya in case the thought triggers you, I have some friends in which it does. alright fam? Be safe!

--------------------------------tw// some people think Tyler may have self-harmed in the past. this is NOT okay to discuss with anyone, online, irl, personally with friends, it doesnt matter. this is NEVER okay. do not talk about whether or not Tyler used to self-harm or where, do not spread photos, do not spread rumors, "evidence", or proof. That is none of our business and it crosses every line to do so. Do NOT talk about whether or not Tyler did or did not. There is no exceptions to this.
