{ nineteen }

[ Three years ago ]

I stared at the flowers I bought before going to her house. I smiled at the beauty of the flowers and then smelled them. I was amazed by the aroma of the flowers.

I was standing at the doorstep, thinking that she was at home. I was waiting, staring at the door after ringing the doorbell few times.

I then heard voices coming from the back. I recognised the voice, making me turn around. I was happy that she finally came back to celebrate our anniversary.

However, I didn't feel as happy as I thought I would be when I saw her with another guy. I tried to think that he was her friend, but I was wrong. Their fingers were intertwined and they were laughing happily at their conversation.

I lost the grip on the flowers and they fell to the ground, attracting the attention of the two. We were staring at each other. My tears were about to flow, but I managed to stop them.

"Hey," the guy greeted me.

I gave him a small smile in response. I shifted my stare to the girl standing beside him who was startled by my presence. I wouldn't be afraid to assume that she has forgotten our anniversary.

"Jiyong-ah," she called softly, letting go of the guy's hand. She then walked towards me and then stared at me. "What are you doing here?" she asked, touching my cheeks.

"What am I doing here?" I questioned back, pushing her hands away. Clearly, my assumption was right. "You've forgotten, I knew it." I stated.

"Forgotten what?" She asked, not understanding what I was referring to.

I shook my head and sighed. I then looked at the guy standing few metres away behind her. "New boyfriend huh?" I asked. As I shifted my stare to her, she was picking up the flowers that fell. "Don't bother." I said harshly.

She continued picking it up nonetheless and opened the card located between the flowers. "It's our anniversary?" she asked after reading the note on it.

I rolled my eyes and sighed. I looked at her who was staring at me. I then walked away, deciding to walk home as I thought this would be over when I got home.

"Bro," he called.

I stopped, then turned to him. "Take good care of Hyelin," I said then continued walking away.

"Jiyong!" she called, but I ignored. I continued walking without turning back.
