Jiyong’s P.O.V

I got in my car and head towards a shopping mall, located further away so as not to get caught by anyone from school. I know it’s a bit ridiculous to think so. I might be the only student who skipped class and went out already. But, anything could happen.

It took me almost an hour to reach my destination. However, it never appeared to me that I don’t know what Chaerin likes. I guess I went out without much consideration. ‘Now what am I supposed to buy for her?’ I thought, walking around the shopping mall aimlessly.

What do girls like actually? Although I have dated before, buying gifts for girls has always been something I’m not good at. I did buy some gifts for Hyelin, well when she dragged me to go shopping and I had to pay for her purchase.

That was when I remember; I always followed her into a boutique and she would buy a lot of dresses. I entered the same boutique she had always bought from. I guess I have not come here for a long time that the staff didn’t recognise me. But it doesn’t matter.

I started scrolling through the racks to search for nice dresses.

‘She doesn’t wear dresses nor skirts. She wore a simple black tshirt, tucking in her jeans, with a denim jacket or cardigan’

Her image of the first day of school appeared in my mind and I remembered the first impression I had of her. She never wear dresses, only during the prom night. Why am I planning to buy a dress for her? But this cream colour dress would look nice on her.

Well, I can make her wear it for a candle light dinner or something. I then started to imagine having dates and dinner with her. Oh, that will be amazing! I thought. I could feel myself blushing already.

“Sir, may I help you?” I then heard the staff ask. I quickly covered my face with my palms. It would be embarrassing if she sees me blushing so hard because of my own imagination.

“Buying a gift for your girlfriend?” she asked again. She doesn’t look puzzled or surprised so I guess I wasn’t blushing so much.

After making sure that I am normal as usual ( I guess that makes sense) I positioned my hands back on the rack then smiled and nodded. “Ne,” I responded, then continued looking for more beautiful dresses.

“That cream dress is nice,” she suggested. I turned and looked at her. I raised my brow, asking her ‘really?’

“Ne. Would you like to purchase that?” she asked.

I looked at her and smiled, thinking should I really buy it. Will she like it? Does it suit her? After a few seconds, I finally agreed to buy that dress I’ve been eyeing on and headed to the cashier counter with the female staff.

“Would you like to purchase anything else?” the staff asked for confirmation before keying in my purchase.

“Can I look around for a moment?” I questioned. The staff smiled and nodded, allowing me to walk around the boutique while she keeps the dress with her before I make the payment.

I walked towards the accessories section. Should I get myself and her something in common? Maybe a ring, or a bracelet. She might like leather bracelet as I saw her wearing a few of them. But what if she has too many of it already?

A silver bracelet caught my eye. I picked it up and stared at it. Beautiful! But she isn’t like other girls who would like silver and gold. Should I just but it anyway? What about my plan on buying something in common?

With the silver bracelet still in my hand, I went to the rings section to see if I can get something there. I looked at the ring displayed there, but none of them actually caught my eye. It’s not that none of them is pretty, but I’m just afraid that it won’t suit her.

“May I help you?” Another staff approached me as I was looking at the rings displayed there. I turned and looked at her. Are there no male staffs here? I thought. That was when I remember this boutique is meant for female.

“Are there any couple ring here?” I asked her after not being able to find something that fits both of us.

“Yes, there are.” She then brought me to another section where more rings were displayed, but they were displayed in pairs.

A smile was then formed on my lips as soon as I saw those rings placed in pairs. It reminded me that I didn’t buy anything like this for Hyelin. Or probably because the things I bought for her were things that she wanted and I never had the initiative to buy her something.

“What is your girlfriend’s ring size?” she asked.

I widened my eyes and looked at her. Ring size? Oh yes, of course! How pabo can I be? I mentally slapped myself for being so stupid. Probably the staff is judging me really hard right now.

“Oh, I don’t know honestly.” I confessed, rubbing the back of my neck. I tried really hard to remember how her finger looks like, but it was impossible. I couldn’t assume which ring would fit her finger.

“Oh what about we measure using your pinky? It might work that way,” she suggested, taking out a few rings to be used to measure the size. I did as suggested, hoping that it would work. But she’s a professional so I should trust her.

We went on trying few rings till we got the one that fits my pinky perfectly. I smiled upon it and hoped that it would fit her finger as well. I then started picking the couple ring that fit us best before making the payment with the dress at the cashier counter.

I went out of the boutique and went to other shops to get her other things. Chocolate! That is the perfect gift. I went to the supermarket and got a box of chocolate that was nicely decorated. I managed to get a nice bouquet of roses from the shop next to the supermarket.

I then went to a bookshop to get a nice paper and a pen, since I was planning to give the gifts right away as soon as I arrive school so I won’t have time to write the card in school. I went to the garden located outside the mall and got myself a seat. I started writing my message on the paper before heading back to school.

After writing my message as beautiful as possible, I head to the carpark and drove back to school. I then dialled Youngbae’s number, thinking that class has ended.

I got in the car, put on my seatbelt and put the call on speaker so I could communicate with him while driving.

“Yeobeoseyo,” greeted Youngbae

“Youngbae-ah!” I exclaimed excitedly.

“Ne, bro. What’s up? You seem excited,” he said.

I then laughed, realising how excited I was. But at the same time, I felt nervous thinking if she would like the gifts I got for her.

“I skipped class today,” I told him. We didn’t have the same class this morning so he won’t know if I was in school or not, which I think he would assume I was.

“What? Are you crazy?” he almost shouted on the phone. He’s my best friend who cared so much for me that he’s acting like my mom when I am away from her.

I laughed upon hearing his reaction. If I was in front of him then, I would have gotten a slap from him for doing such stupid thing. “Ani, I got things for Chaerin.”

“Oh, so you’re done with your plan? You’re apologising to her, aren’t you?” he asked.

“Yes, I ….” I was about to reply when I saw a big truck coming towards my direction on my left. The driver didn’t seem to be aware of where he was heading. I tried to avoid it and turned my steering wheel but I was too late. The truck was travelling at a high speed and the next thing I know, I was blinded with darkness.
