Chapter 5
He grabbed the luggage out of my hand and quickly, but gently put it in the trunk of the yellow taxi.
Then he oped the back seat car door and I slid in as I tried to make enough room for Grace and Abby.
The whole ride to Grandma's was quiet and started to get on my nerves. But there was no way I was going to make a conversation with the driver. So I dealt with the silence.
When we were finally here, I looked out the window very excited until I realised why we were even here. A deep, cold chill ran down my spine once again. And they were really starting to get on my nerves and making me think that there was something wrong with me. Or I was severely freezing.
He once again opened the taxi doors and we hopped out. He gave me our bags and said, "Have a nice day, girls."
We waited until he drove away to start walking up to her door.
I bit my lip, hoping she was home and okay. I knocked on the door.
She, or who I think it was, opened the door with a surprised look on her face.
She walked out and hugged all of us, squeezing me so hard that I couldn't help the moan that slipped out of me.
"I can't believe you girls are here!" She squealed.
I nodded and she welcomed us in.
"You girls must be starving!" she said.
She walked into her kitchen and looked back at us.
"You girls are quiet, huh?" She asked, "Or is it just because this is all new to you?"
We didn't answer. I just looked at all of her pictures of family, family I didn't even know, but could tell were family. And paintings of flowers and nature that I surprisingly enjoyed to look at.
Grace and Abby walked into the kitchen after her as I still, was looking at the majestic paintings.
