Chapter 9
"BEEEEEP!!! BEEEEEP!!!" My alarm went off and I opened my eyes slightly and turned it off.
I felt tired. I had never slept for only three hours and then went somewhere. I yawned and a cold chill ran down my spine. I got out from under my covers and sat on my side of the bed. I looked behind me to see a window and that it was still very dark out.
I stood up and used my IPod as a flashlight. I went over to my lamp on my dresser and turned it on.
I yawned again. Man! Am I going to be yawning all day now?
I walked over to my suitcase with all of my clothes. Trust me... that bag is huge!
I unzipped it and pulled out a light purple, long sleeve top and a pair of jeans. I slipped them on and a pair of socks. I pulled my hair back into a tight ponytail and slipped a furry North Face jacket over my shirt.
I knew that we would never be coming back to this place and so i started to back two extra pieces of clothing in every clothing category.
I slowly opened Grace's and Abby's door and did the same with them. The bag was starting to get a little heavy and I tried to stuff only what we would need.
"Wake up... Grace? Abby?" I whispered as soft as I could.
Grace woke up, "What's going on? Are we under attack?" Grace whispered with a laugh.
"No silly! We are leaving. Now! Lets go! Get dressed." I said still whispering.
She looked at me confused and sighed. For a ten year old, she was really smart. You could have a normal adult conversation with her that easily!
"What are you talking about?" she asked.
"I am serious Grace!" I relied in a whisper.
"Where are we going?" She asked.
I sighed and coughed. My cough was a little too loud. I hope I didn't wake Abby, because if she heard this... I would never get her to stop crying.
"I will tell you on our way there. Okay?" I asked.
I couldn't really tell in the dark, but I automatically knew she nodded her head.
She sighed and I could hear her grabbing the sheets and pulling them off of her.
"I already got you some clothes to put on." I said.
"Thanks," she mumbled under her breath.
She quickly pulled them over her body and asked, "What about Abby?"
"We need to try and convince her to come with us too," I said with a sigh.
I knew this would be hard. I had to answer her questions because if I didn't, I would never get her to come with us.
"Wake Up... Abby???" I said whispering into her ear and rubbing her back.
She rolled over slowly, startling me.
"Gwen?" She asked sounding restless.
"We are going somewhere..." I said drifting off, not know how to put this.
"Where are we going?" She asked in her little voice.
I really had no idea what to say. What if she kept asking questions like a I knew she would? Then again she sounded pretty sleepy. I was hoping she would be too sleepy to even ask where in the world we were going.
