Chapter 11

"I'm scared of the dark, Sissy!" Abby said with a worried voice.

I knew she was scared of the dark. I was too. Mostly when your outside in the middle of somewhere that you don't know very well. Or you don't know at all.

"Everything will be okay," I assured her.

I gulped really loud, hoping that I wasn't wrong.

I took my first step out of the door and Grace and Abby followed me. Abby quickly held my hand as she tripped over the threshold. She squeezed tightly and I squeezed her precious little hand back.

I shut the door slowly and quietly behind us.

We all started to walk down her path and up to her driveway. I looked behind us just to make sure she didn't hear us and was about to open the door and stop us from leaving. But she didn't.

"Are you girls ready?" I asked.

They both nodded and that made me feel a little more confident about this whole situation. I dug into my back pocket and pulled out a satellite map on my IPod to find out where to go. I held it up as high as I could until it loaded up where we were. When it finally loaded, I sighed relief and started walking towards the mailbox with Abby's hand still squeezing mine. On my IPod it show that I should turn left and walk about three miles to where the major city would be.

We walked and we walked for about forty five minutes until Abby asked, "Where are we going and why did we leave Grandmas?" she asked, making me even more frustrated.

"We are going to the nearest hotel and we left so we can be more safe," I answered.

"Okay?" she said questioningly.

We started to get closer and closer to where you could see all of the city lights and buildings. it looked so spectacular and majestic. I would love to live here and see the sun set and the sky grow dark and the lights light up the city every night! But I can't stay here. I would never be able to stay here because of my safety issues.

I know I would miss my grandmother and my step-Mother, but my safety and Abby and Graces safety are so much more important to me. I know I would miss my friends and my family. You know... I am already missing them. They are missing from my heart and my life. Just thinking about my family made my start to get teary eyed. I tried my hardest to stop myself because I need to be the strong one, the oldest and the most mature for them.

"The pretty lights!" Abby said.

I nodded my head and took her hand and Graces. I started to walk on the path to where it led all of the shops and home. I finally found the Hotel that I have been looking for.

"It's right there. That one." I pointed out to them.

We walked up to the Hotel and walked through the automatic sliding doors. We walked to the front desk. There was a beautiful woman sitting in the chair behind the desk reading a magazine and had her feet kicked up on top of the table. She had majestic blue eyes and flawless blond hair that was pulled up into a messy bun. The woman wore a nice and neat outfit with the hotels logo and her name tag on the blouse.

"May I help you?" she asked in a snooty way. Already making me dislike her.

"Hi... Ummm... Yes, Can I please have a hotel room here?" I asked, not really knowing what to say.

She looked at her computer in front of her after she put down her magazine and put her feet on the floor. She looked at me like I said something weird and then looked back down at the computer.

"Did you reserve a room?" she asked.

"No, actually I didn't," I answered.

She nodded.

"Aren't you a little young to be reserving a hotel room?" She asked.

"Ummm... my mom is out in the car waiting for us. She wanted to make sure that we could get a stay here before she came in with our luggage," I replied.

She nodded.

"Okay... well what is your last name? And because you did not reserve a room on line... you will need to complete this form before I can give you the keys." She said in a better tone than before.

I defiantly did not want to give her my real name. So I made up the last name, Shoals, instead of my real last name, Jean. Abby's and Grace's real last name was Edward.

"My last name is Shoals," I said.

She nodded.

"That's a weird name," she said and handed me a peiece of paper, what I guessed was the 'form' I have to fill out.

I grabbed it from her hand and she also handed me a pen. I walked over to where there were a couples of chair and we all sat down.

As I filled out the following, I put in everything totally wrong to disguise my true information.
