Chapter 12
"Thanks," she said as I handed the the 'form' and pen to her.
She studied the form very carefully and asked, "Is this your mothers name or yours?"
I looked at her puzzled and with confusion. Then it hit me.
"Oh, that is my mothers name," I replied.
She nodded and handed me the keys.
I grabbed the keys from her and put them in my coat pocket. Grace and I took handle of the luggage and started to walk off to find our room. Until the lady at the desk stopped us to ask,
"Oh, and you can pay the office in the morning."
I nodded and kept on walking. We were room number 271. So far we were looking at the rooms withs numbers like 234 and 235. Apparently we were on the second floor.
"Are we there yet?" Abby asked.
"Nope, we are number 271." I replied.
She sighed and kept looking at the numbers on the doors.
"Oh! Here it is!" I said.
"Finally..." Grace mumbled under her breath.
I gave Grace the bag I was carrying and dug my hand in my pocket searching for the keys I put in it earlier. I searched and search. I looked in my right pocket and my left. I looked in all four of my jeans pockets and they weren't there. Oh... what am I going to do?
"They aren't in any of my pockets!" I said.
"What?" Grace yelled.
"Shut up! There are other people staying here and I don't want to be kicked out!" I whispered to her.
She gulped and sighed.
"I know. Maybe they fell out of my pocket while we looked for our room?" I suggested.
Grace nodded and replied to my question,"Yea. Lets hope. Gwen, you go and look for them and Abby and I will wait here with our bags okay?"
I told ya that she could talk to anyone like an adult!
I nodded, " Okay, but please be careful and keep an eye out for anyone who might ask you why your just standing her okay?"
"Yea, I will just say, 'We are waiting here for my mom to get back with the keys,' okay?" she asked
I nodded and started to walk down the hallway that we just came from. I looked down to the floor and along the sides of the walls. I made a few turns right and left until I made it to the stairs, that were not so easy to walk up.
I walked down the who- knows- how- many- stairs and I finally found them in the door. I totally forgot that I used the keys to open the door to the second floor and I must of never took them out of the key slot! I grabbed them and dashed up the stairs. I made a few more turns right and left and saw them waiting on the other side of the hallway.
Grace waved at me and I started to walk as fast as I could, so I didn't make any noises to disrupt the other guests.
I walked up to them and said, "They were in the door that we had to open with the keys."
"Wow... Nice one!" Grace mumbled under her breath.
"I know." I said and opened the door.
