“You think they’ll be surprised?” I asked in amusement, turning towards my blonde friend who grinned in response.
“They better be!”
It went silent after that. It might be surprising to some people that the blonde wasn’t rushing off to find the gates and we were both casually strolling to Konoha while Jiraiya was trailing behind us, too. Familiar trees and atmosphere slowly invaded and I took in the smell around me… which was just a nature smell.
Another familiar sight came into view. No one said a word as we reached the gates, passing Kotetsu and Izumo on our way, both their eyes followed us until we were out of sight while Naruto and I grinned at each other.
“It’s been two and a half years.” Naruto commented as we walked further through the streets, I did a slight nod while Jiraiya replied with a “Yeah”
Naruto suddenly dropped his bag on the ground and went running to a tall pole, stretching his arms out. “This brings back memories!” He exclaimed from the top of the pole as I lifted my eyebrow at him. “This place hasn’t changed at all!”
“He’s excited.” Jiraiya said to me, which caused me to glance his way.
“Excited? He’s more than excited. Although, if the villagers saw him like this they wouldn’t believe how much he’s calm down.” I replied, bringing my gaze back to Naruto and pushed a few long red strands out of my eyesight.
“Everyone, Uzumaki Naruto has returned!”
“Mimi-Chan, they added Granny Tsunade’s face to the mountain!” He called, pointing to said mountain.
With doubt, I climbed up the pole and, because of there not being much room, clung to Naruto’s arm to find out that he was telling the truth. Tsunade’s face was now in the mountain. “Did they give her a double chin?” I questioned, tilting my head a bit.
“Nah, they made her have no pupils!”
“Naruto, they’re all like that.” I pointed to the many other faces carved into the mountain.
“Naruto…? Is that you?” A voice called, I almost wringed my neck to see who it was, considering I didn’t recognize who it was at all.
“When did you get back, Naruto?” My mouth dropped as I realized it was Sakura. Her voice changed so much!
Naruto, not even thinking about how I was clinging to his arm, jumped down to greet the pink haired girl with a response of “Just now!” and in a moment of surprise, I let go of his arm and panicked, trying to catch something to ease my fall, which didn’t work out very well, so I met the ground with a thud.
With a sigh, I got up and rubbed my head. “I know. I missed you too, ground.” I told the ground sarcastically, patting the dirt path, causing Jiraiya to chuckle at me since I landed behind him.
“It’s been awhile, Sakura-Chan!” He greeted, closing his eyes as he did his familiar grin and chuckled slightly.
She did a small smile in reply to him before looking closer at him. “You’re taller than me, aren’t you?”
Naruto did a small test to confirm that she was right. “You’re right.”
I noticed her eyes soften immediately, and I couldn’t help but break out in song. “Can you feel the love tonight~?”
Jiraiya groaned. “Please, stop… I’ve heard you sing for almost three years. I just want ten minutes where I don’t have to hear you sing.” He pleaded, as I smirked at him. But I couldn’t help and think that it was an amazing thing that the two teenagers in front of Jiraiya hadn’t noticed me, but whatever. I can understand though, they’re in love.
