Pillows and blankets covered my whole body and head as I was lying there, motionless. I heard a soft knock on my door, which was closed.
“Mimi-Chan,” A voice called quietly, knocking twice more. “I haven’t seen you all day!”
I didn’t respond, only listened to my blonde haired friend. Soon enough, he’ll be bursting in through the door.
“I’m coming in, Mimi-chan!” He shouted, and then I heard the door click and open, and then footsteps closing in on me. “Why are you covered in a mountain of pillows and blankets?”
I mumbled words through the pillow, it came out as a whine and I slammed my foot on my bed. I just could imagine a question mark appearing above Naruto’s head as he probably tilted his head.
“Huh? I can’t hear you if you mumble into the pillows.”
With a sigh, I overdramatically flopped myself into an indian-style sitting position, and faced him. My hair sticking up everywhere, he tried to hide a chuckle by covering his mouth, I narrowed my eyes. “It’s not funny.”
“Of course it’s not, Mimi.” Naruto replied, dismissively waving his hand. “What’s wrong?” He sat next to me and smoothed my hair a little bit for me.
“Everyone’s a jerk!” I told him with a pout, crossing my arms over my chest.
Naruto’s head went to the side and he gave me a questioning look. “Who, Sasuke?”
I cringed at the name. “Not just him. Yamato and Tsunade, too!”
“Oh, that’s right. You went and saw Old granny yesterday! What happened?”
I frowned, looking at my hands, which were playing with the sheets. How was I suppose to tell him? And what would he do if I did tell him? I didn’t even think about asking Tsunade why I was even kicked off the team to begin with. He suddenly pulled me into a hug and patted my back, trying to reassure me.
“Naruto…” I started, mimicking his gesture. “This is really hard to do, but… I--I’m taking a break from the team.”
Naruto stopped what he was doing, his hands fell to his sides and he backed up enough to look at me. His blue eyes were wide and his eyebrows were turned up, looking sad and confused. “What? Why?!”
I shook my head. “Tsunade told me that her and Yamato decided it was for the best.”
“What?” Suddenly Naruto was standing up, stomping his foot. “They can’t do that!”
A grimace appeared on my face.“I don’t think you’re gonna change their mind…”
“We have to try though, come on!” He said, grabbing my hand and pulling me out of bed.
I stumbled and fell flat on my face, groaning a bit. I pushed myself back up and sighed. “It doesn’t matter, Naru…”
“Yes it does, we’re going to fix this.” He argued, pushing me out the door.
Konoha’s streets seemed really busy today, it was probably around 4 in the afternoon, but everyone was still shopping and doing the usual stuff. Naruto was ranting the whole way to the Hokage’s, huffing and growling. I stayed silent, glancing around at the people and shops.
I knew I was right when Yamato practically said I shouldn’t do anything involving the team on our last mission, I should’ve realized he was secretly plotting against me to get rid off me from the team. But, why?
Before I knew it, we were there and barging through the doors. Tsunade sat there, looking the same as always, her face was twisted into a look of surprise as Naruto called out her name.
