"Today I have training!" You said to no one in particular. You got up, raked your fingers through your hair to brush it. Although it didn't work very well, you tried to rip through the tangles anyways. "Stupid hair." You muttered to yourself. A loud knock startled you, making you jump in surprise. "Come in!"

"Rachel?" It was Shade. "Charred told me to give these to you." He dropped a small stack of clothes on your bed. They looked pretty torn up, but were clean. You put on a shirt, only covering your chest. You put on a pair of shorts, you guessed that they used to pants. Both were torn at the bottom, and had teeth marks on them from Shade. "I can't believe it! I'm finally going to be free!" The thoughts were overwhelming to think about. Then you felt a pang of sadness, remembering your sister. "I will avenge her..." You said. "She never deserved to die like that."

You walked out of your room and down the hall, eventually coming across the room where you would start your training. You knew some basics about fighting, as you would have to defend yourself and your sister. You didn't know if you would need them, as this world was different. "Rachel!" You heard Shade's voice echo down the hall. "Charred asked if you're ready!"

"I'm coming!" You called back. You quivered with excitement, you might be able to escape. "But do I want to escape?" The thought passed through your mind briefly, you shook it off. "Of course I want to escape! I want to go back to the human world, I want to avenge my sister."

"Rachel!" Shade shouted, quite annoyed annoyed. "Hurry up!" You rushed down the hall and to the training room. "Finally you've arrived." Said the black reptile. "Let's start you off with some basics. How about..." He thought for a moment. "Balance." You were confused. "Balance? What's that supposed to mean?" He brought you outside. There was little room outside the castle doors.

He picked to up and flew to one of the surrounding islands, it was larger than the others. "Learn to keep your balance while fighting. If you fall, you will instantly lose." He flew up into the sky, then dived full force at you. The wind made you unsteady, then he flew behind you and knocked you over. "Now, do you understand? Here." He said as he walked up behind you. He spread the fake wings apart, making sure they were even. "Now try. It will be harder, but if you can learn the hard way it will make things much easier." He flew up into the sky once more, this time you were ready.

He dove at you, and when the wind was about to hit you, you put your foot behind yourself. You quickly regained your balance, only to be tripped by his tail. "No fair!" You said, "I thought we were only learning balance!"
"We are." He chuckled. "Balance takes timing as well, and awareness of your surrounding. You need these in order to not fall. Always expect the unexpected." You attempted many times to do all three at once, but failed most of the time. After awhile, you were exhausted. "Can we take a break?" You panted. You were covered with bruises, and your shirt was grass stained. It started to rain.

Instead of flying towards the castle, he flew upwards and towards a lake. He hovered above it, then dived to straight into it. "You said you needed a bath!" When your skin touched the water you only clung tighter to him. 'I-It's too c-c-cold!" You said through chattering teeth. 'I hope I don't get sick from this!' You thought. He rose out of the water, the droplets rolling off his scales.
'Tomorrow is going to be a long day...'
