▸ The Strays - Sleeping With Sirens
The sound of the blender going off startled me. I turned around to see Sally making a smoothie in the kitchen. As Apollo and Meg entered the apartment, Sally turned off the blender stepping out from behind the counter.
"Sacred Sibyl!" Apollo cried out. "Madam, there is something wrong with your midsection!"
"Well, I'm seven months pregnant." Sally looked down at her bump.
"How can you bear it? My mother, Leto, suffered through a long pregnancy, but only because Hera cursed her. Are you cursed?" Apollo asked. I facepalmed. Does Apollo know nothing about the mortal world?
"Um, Apollo? She's not cursed. And can you not mention Hera?" Percy stepped next to the former Greek god.
"Yeah, we kind of hate her." I added, my arms crossed against my chest.
"You poor woman." Apollo shook his head, ignoring the both of us. "A goddess would never allow herself to be so encumbered. She would give birth as soon as she felt like it."
"That must be nice." Sally agreed.
"So anyway." Percy coughed. "Mom, this is Apollo and his friend Meg. Guys, this is my mom."
"And I'm his half-sister, Nevah. It's nice to meet you Meg." I smiled at the girl before I elbowed Percy in the ribs for not introducing me. He groaned and squinted his eyes at me.
"Call me Sally." Sally shook their hands. Sally's eyes narrowed as she inspected Apollo's appearance, mainly focusing on his bruised nose. "Dear, that looks painful. What happened?"
Apollo, for the first time ever, choked on his words. I perked an eyebrow. Why is he not talking? He loves to talk.
"I tell you what." Sally patted Apollo's shoulder and looked at Percy. "Percy can help you get bandaged and cleaned up."
"I can?" Percy asked. I stifled back a chuckle. Sally gave him her famous look which consisted of a perked eyebrow that she usuale gave us when we did something wrong.
"There's a first-aid kit in your bathroom, sweetheart. Apollo can take a shower, then wear your extra clothes. You two are about the same size."
"That is truly depressing." Percy said. I nodded along. It's weird seeing him slim. He loved to show off his muscles and abs. Sally ignored him and cupped Meg's chin with her hand.
"Nevah and I have some clothes that might fit you, dear." Sally told Meg. "Some of Nevah's old clothes and my pre-pregnancy clothes, of course. Let's get you cleaned up. Then we'll get you something to eat."
"I like food." Meg muttered. I laughed along with Sally.
"Well ain't that the truth. I love food." I said with a grin.
"Well, we have that in common. Percy, you take Apollo. We'll meet you back here in a while. Nevah, can you go see if you have anything that would fit Meg?"
"Yeah." I smiled. Percy took Apollo to his room while Sally took Meg to hers. I went into mine to try and find anything that might fit the younger girl. As I scavenged for any sort of clothing, I found a pair of black leggings that I had been meaning to donate. With a smile, I grabbed the fabric and walked over to Sally's and Paul's bedroom. "All I could find was a pair of leggings."
"That's perfect, dear. Meg seems to like my old green tie-dye dress." Sally gently grabbed the leggings out of my hand and handed it over to Meg. "Go ahead and change in the bathroom. Make sure you take a shower too, sweetheart."
