Grass waved in the wind, people strolled on the small stone paths that weaved throughout the area. Benches were placed in cozy spots, under the nice shady trees, or in scenic places to look over a small pond or gaze over an open field. My parents sat on a small blanket with a basket that was filled with delectable treats. As another couple sat beside them, my parents friends. Though, I didn't pay much attention to them.
I was more concerned for the fact I couldn't find that couple's son.
"Haruki!" I called out desperately, where could he be? I looked everywhere! I looked in the bushes, trees, behind the picnic basket, he was no where to be found!
"Hinaka..." I hear from not far away. I flip around in the direction of the faint call, I narrow my eyes, he's behind the bench, I begin making my way slowly. I then bolted to the bench and threw myself over it, crashing straight down into the overwhelmed Haruki.
"Found you!" I cheered, now sitting on his crumpled form. He groans underneath me before shoving me off onto the grass.
"That you did," he grumbles getting up into a sitting position. I gaze over at him giving him a goofy grin. His face lights up as well as he returns the grin. His blueish eyes shone with a hint of purple mixed into it, his black charcoal like hair contrasting the bright sun that shone up above.
"Alright your turn!" Haruki exclaims covering up his eyes, starting to count.
"Okay!" I reply, taking off. I found a small patch of tall grass, I then burrowed myself into the patch, doing my best to hide any exposed part of my body. I thought I was hiding pretty well until about a few minutes later Haruki laughed and pointed at me hiding in the grass.
"I see you!" he snickers. I frowned and stood up.
"I thought this was a good spot!" I whined irritated.
"It's a good spot... Until you realize you have white hair that shines like a beacon!" Haruki exclaimed walking over and ruffling up my hair.
"Haruki!" I whined again, pushing him away. "I can't help that I have white hair!"
"I know, but it's funny!" He exclaimed. I make an unamused face and turn away crossing my arms.
"Hinaka..." He said approaching me from behind slowly. I stand there still facing away with my arms crossed. Once he got close enough, I flipped around and poked him straight in the forehead and yelled, "YOU'RE IT!"
"HINAKA!" He exclaimed angrily as I dash away. I ran like my life depended on it, I picked up quickly that I was way more faster than he was. I began to tease him, letting him get close before dashing off again. This round lasted for so long he ended up giving in.
"Ha! That's what you get!" I exclaimed, walking over to him as he laid exhausted on the ground. He just turned his head towards me, shooting a me a dirty look. I stick out my tongue in response to that and sat myself down next to him.
"I had fun though," I then said turning my head to look over at him.
"I did too," he agreed slightly nodding his head.
"Hey kids!" my father called out waving his hand in the air. We both turn our attentions to him. His white hair hard not to miss, as the sun radiated off of him, and his emerald eyes sticking out from his pale, muscular features.
"Coming!" me and Haruki both yell, hopping up off the soft grass, running over to my father who was waving to us.
"Did you two boys have fun today?" my mother asked making her way over to us with a large smile plastered on her face, her define features contrasting her childish expression. My mother's green eyes blended with the green scenery around us as if she was one with nature, though her black hair striking out as if it was a dark shadow slicing the sky.
"Yeah we did!" Haruki smiled happily.
"Yeah!" I added. "We had a lot of fun!" I wish the day could've lasted longer...
