Jacob held the door open for Brea before following her into the house. "I'll take that." He took the bag of food from her.
Brea giggled. "You've got the beer, I can get the food."
Jacob saw Dan in the living room, sitting in a stunned silence. He cleared his throat and Brea stepped back from him. "Dan? What are you doing down here?"
Dan looked up at Brea. "Why didn't you tell me Savannah liked me? Why didn't you tell me that she was flirting with me?"
"What? You noticed?" She shut her mouth.
"I found out a few things tonight." He ran his fingers through his dark brown hair. "The first thing was that I shouldn't have asked her and Erik to plan my engagement party."
Brea winced. "I thought you knew she liked you, and that you were just ignoring it."
"I thought she was flirting for fun. It's how I saw her personality!" He shook his head. "Did you know that she and Erik aren't together, and he blames me?"
"Yeah. I should have told you when you told me that Scarlett said 'yes' to your proposal." Brea sighed. "Where is she?"
"She took off. Erik went to go find her."
"Brea, should we go help?" Jacob asked. "We can always reheat this later.
Brea thought about it. "Maybe. If she's at the bar she usually goes out to, I'll probably need to drive her car back."
"Let me put this away." Jacob brought the beer and food into the kitchen. He managed to find a place for their dinner behind some of the fruit Trevor had piled in the fridge for his special 'green juice.' "I don't know how Trevor can drink that. Ugh." He shook his head.
"I'd suggest that you not be down here when we get back Dan." Brea instructed. "Savannah can be unpredictable when she's drunk."
Dan nodded. "Tell her I'm sorry." He got up and went to his room. This was more drama than he ever wanted in his home life.
"I will." She faced Jacob. "Ready?"
"Let's go." He placed a hand on the small of her back and led her to the door.
"Brea?" She looked up, her heart racing at the voice.
"Um...Hey Trevor."
"Trev." Jacob greeted.
Trevor looked at how close Jacob stood next to Brea and the hand he had on her back. He was stupid. How could he not see it? Savannah and Erik said something about the Brea staying over Jacob's room the night of her birthday. 'Probably a rebound and nothing serious.' He thought to himself. "So, is this," he pointed between her and Jacob, "why you couldn't have dinner with me?"
"Not now Trevor. We're going to try and find Savannah." Brea pushed past him, Jacob following not far behind her.
Trevor scoffed. "I need a drink." He went into the kitchen and grabbed a beer from the fridge and headed to his room.
* * *
Erik scanned the room. Savannah wasn't singing karaoke. She wasn't dancing. He turned his attention to the bar. "Found you." He muttered.
Savannah was sitting at the end of the bar, several empty shot glasses in front of her. "You know, you're kinda cute." She loudly announced to the man next to her.
