Old School, New School

Middle school starts today and I am excited. And everyone rides the bus this year. Kat and me ran out the room and went to the bathroom to do our hygiene routine.

"Drake do you think I look pretty?" She asks turning to me.

"Kat don't start that 'do you think I look fat in this' " I said. She laughed.

"I'm just asking" she said then walks out.

"Yes you do sis!" I yell. She looks back and smiles. I get my backpack out of my room and head down stairs. Kat comes down with her stuff and our mom was following just to remind us about our lunch.

"Drake hurry up so you can walk out and catch the bus on time" she says.

"Here I come" I said grabbing a quick snack and running out the door. I seen Nicki and Caiah walking towards the bus stop.

"Onikaaaaaa!!!!" Kat shouts. Nicki looks back and stops in her tracks. Me and Kat run down the sidewalk to catch up to them.

"Hey guys" Nicki says.

"Nicki did your hair get longer?" Kat asks.

"Yeah, my mama straightened it last night" she says.

"I hope mines grows back fast" Kat says playing with it.

"So are we gonna try out for anything this year?" Caiah asks me.

"Basketball or football" I answer as we get to the stop sign. There were two other kids standing there.

"I wanna do drama club and choir" Nicki says.

"I was gonna join art club and volleyball" Kat says excitedly.

"I heard the lunch is better" I say.

"Could be worse" Nicki says teasing me. I chuckle. The bus pulls up and we get on. There were like ten other kids scattered inside. Nicki and Kat sit in a seat together with me and Caiah sitting across from them.

As we get to school the bus stops in other spots along the way to school and we just talk. A few of our other friends were riding the bus.

As the day goes on, I was enjoying the classes I had so far. I was getting tired during my last class though. I met a girl named Cassie and she dressed real nice. She is into acting like I am. I noticed she rode the bus too but it was in a different neighborhood so she had to ride a different one. On the way home Kat and me were going back and forth about our day. Drake kept playing with my hair until he laughed at my annoyance by him.

"Sorry Nicki " he said tickling me. He knows I hate being tickled so I laughed and shoved him hard.

"Boy stop!" I yelled. We both ended up laughing in the end.

"Let's all sneak out tonight" Kat says.

"Kat no one has time to get in trouble with you" Caiah says.

"Right" I said.

"Kat and me are gonna be up when our parents go to sleep and do some goofy stuff together. We'll be in the back yard if you wanna come" Drake says looking at me.

"I'm in I guess" Caiah says. They all look at me.

"I'll think about it" I say walking up to my house. My dad was sitting at the table with his newspaper and drinking water.

"There they are" he says. I run to him and sit in his lap.

"Hey daddy" I say happy to see him.

"How was your day?" He asks. I smile and tell him about it. Caiah then tells him about his.

"Daddy where is mommy at?" I ask.

"She has to work late tonight, but she will be back before you go to sleep" he says. Since it was the first day we didn't have any homework so we just chill around the house and eat. That night my mom comes home tired but she asks me and Caiah to tell about our day to her. Our dad was already sleep. She tells us to go to bed on time then goes to her room.

"Nicki did you wanna go?" Caiah asks an hour later knowing both our parents were sleep. I grab my sweater and shoes. He waits for me downstairs by the back door and we leave. We go to Drake and Kat's backyard door and go into their yard. We see them sitting in a tent and join.

"Oh she came" Drake says. I laugh.

"So what we gone talk about?" I ask.

"Let's talk about Wayne thinking that Mrs. Farrah is hot" Caiah says laughing.

"No, Mariah coming into the class then saying "I'm sorry Mrs. Jackson I'm just fashionably late" drake says battering his eyes. We all laugh.

"Guys I feel bad for that one guy, Ryan. He's so smart but the dumb guys pick on him for it"

"I like him. I talked to him and he is pretty funny" Drake says.

"The principle is so mean"

"Yo she got eyes like a fly" I say making everyone laugh.

"To be honest and she smile so big" we all laugh. For an hour we sit in the tent and talk about funny things from school. Me and Caiah go in the house quietly and go up to our rooms going to sleep.
