"October 1st, nothing has been happening ever since Jake, Starr, Tate, and Jasmine left the cabin in the woods. Jake is ignoring Jasmine while he drives the RV down an abandoned road. Jasmine gets up to go check on Cleta, but decides to hang out with Starr and Tate instead," I narrated.
"Jasmine, why are you narrating again?" Starr asked me.
I had been narrating on and off ever since we left the cabin. I don't really know why I do it, I just started doing it. It always got on every ones nerves, but it kept me from going insane, so they tried to cope. Starr coped by having sex with Tate every other hour. Jake and I found out when we accidentally walked in on them.
Tate coped by swearing a lot. It seemed after every other word there was a cuss word, and I was worried that Cleta was going to pick up on it. Jake coped by driving ninety miles an hour in the RV, and I coped by narrating.
We don't really know why we need to cope either. We didn't really lose anything, but we were all down in the dumps when we had to leave. The cabin had been our home for over a year, and now we couldn't find anything that even felt like home. We stayed in a house for a few days, but it never felt like home. I missed that feeling, like I was actually safe in hell.
I started to cry. Starr walked up to me, and comforted me. She tried to get me to stop, but I just kept on crying. "Jake, find the nearest stop possible, and get us out of this RV!" Starr yelled at Jake as I cried.
We walked back to the bedroom, but I didn't really want to go int there because Cleta was napping. We walked in, and Cleta sat up. I picked her up, and I grunted. Cleta was now a year and seven months, and she was getting big. We had managed to potty train her, thank God, and she was learning new words. "Do you want to talk about what's wrong?" Starr asked me when I settled Cleta into my lap.
"I just wish that things had turned out differently. If there were no zombies, I would be out partying like there is no tomorrow, and Cleta would be with my dad. We would be out at a movie with our friends, or sneaking drinks from your parents liquor cabinet, and we definitely wouldn't be in Kansas!" I screamed thinking about everything that could have been.
"Jasmine, you don't know that. How do you know that you would have kept Cleta, how could you know what anything would have been like if there were no zombies?" She asked.
I just sat there. I started to think about how the zombie outbreak helped me, and the only thing that came up was Cleta. Without the outbreak, I probably wouldn't have kept Cleta.
I started to cry again, and this time it was Cleta that comforted me. "Mommy, wet eyes," She said in her little toddler way.
I started to laugh. I couldn't help it, but then again, I didn't want it to stop either. It was my first actual laugh in a long time. I had laugh since we left, but I never actually felt them in my heart. Starr looked at me like I was crazy, but she joined in to. We were both laughing so hard that we didn't notice that Tate had joined us to. Before I knew it, Jake came into the bedroom and said that he had found the perfect spot.
We walked out of the RV, and I stopped infront of a Chucky Cheese! "OMG!" was all that I could say.
I had always loved Chucky Cheese, but I could only go every now and again. I started to run into the building, but I stopped myself. "Jake, you stay in the RV with Cleta," I told him.
I walked back onto the RV to get my weapons, and when Starr, Tate and I were ready, we marched into Chucky Cheese.
