I stood there for a while, bewildered. This wasn't Eddie, no, no, he would never drink enough to beat someone. In fact, Eddie wasn't the one who got into fights with people, he was always the calm guru with words of wisdom. I was brought back to my senses as Eddie threw himself at Will, again failing. Will smirked and dodged while my feet had other ideas. I was standing in front of Eddie now, facing him with my hand on his chest, gently pushing him back."Eddie stop!" I yelled
He clenched his jaw with a hard look in his eyes, watching Will, until they fell on me, and his gaze softened. He looked back at Will in disgust.
"Next time. You're dead!" He spat at Will before turning around, pulling Kristen with him towards the car out front. I stood there for a moment watching them walk ahead with their hands entwined, right then and there, I knew there was something going on between my two best friends. They clearly knew each other long before I met Kristen and they had grown feelings for each other as well. Maybe Will Pecker made a move on Kristen and Eddie found out, that didn't explain why he was so drunk.
"I'm not letting him drive you home" my thoughts were cut off by Chris, again magically appearing by my side.
"Since when did you care so much?" I rolled my eyes
He observed me for a while, until my cheeks grew unbearably warm.
"I'm taking you home Prim. It's late" I remembered the hot cheerleader he was flirting with earlier and anger welled up inside me.
"No thanks" I snapped and walked ahead before Chris caught up to me and grabbed my wrist.
"Wait! Prim! Why are you mad at me?" I thought about that for a minute. I couldn't just tell him I was jealous could I?
"Mad? I'm not mad! Noooo... It's just...Eddie... I've never seen him like that..." I made up. But it wasn't a lie.
"I'm sorry. Maybe you should talk to him later, when he can think straight" he suggested, his face softening
I shrugged and walked towards the front yard, only to find Eddie and his car gone, along with Kristen. Tears pricked my eyes as I thought of this loss. Was I finally replaced? He just left me in the middle of a party with nowhere to go and I couldn't believe it.
"We'll take my car" Chris spoke and lead me toward his BMW
I watched the surrounding blur as we passed, and I leaned my head against the glass window. I closed my eyes and inhaled the AC, listening to the light sound of Coldplay in the background. The car jerked and I bumped my head on the glass, waking me up and I leaned against the leather seat once more. Just then Chris drove into my drive way and stopped the car, turning around to face me. Flashes of the night ran through my head causing tears to fall down my cheeks.
"Hey" he says, soothingly, turning my chin around to face him.
His thumb brushed the tears on my cheek and he held my gaze, his grey eyes holding mine. My cheeks were warm under his grasp and I reluctantly turned my head away, self conscious. My make up was probably a mess right now, mascara streaming down my eyes and my eyes red and puffy.
"I should go" I said stepping out of the vehicle.
Chris walked out and leaned against the car with a smirk.
"Thanks for the ride" I said before walking towards the front door.
"Sure flower, you're welcome" he smirked and nodded while I gave him a withering look in return. Once I turned back toward the door until I hear him call my name,
"I forgot to tell you something" he said
"What is it?"
"You look beautiful"
