CHAPTER FIVE
It was a cold morning and I quickly grabbed my coat. When I got to school, I headed to the lockers to get my books.
I looked in the mirror and combed my hair straight. My hair is getting longer now. I haven't cut it since the last six months. I have this belief that when I cut it down, it wont grow back again. Weird, right?
After Algebra class, Chloe walked towards me.
"What do you want for snacks today?" She asked. "Let's go to the cafeteria.
"Anything'll do. Cmon."
As we enter to cafeteria, my eyes shifted to where Dave is sitting. He's with some group.
"Hey?" Chloe said then waved her hand in front of my face.
"Y-yes?" I snapped.
"What're you looking at? The team captain of the school's soccer team?" She asked.
My heart leaped. I never new he was athletic. Well, I didnt realized that. Maybe it's because of his gentle looks.
"Team captain?" I asked nervously.
"Hell yeah. He's like the hottest guy in our school."
Bingo.
My eyes gazed at the entrance as a group of good looking and well built guys walk inside the cafeteria.
"Who are those?" I asked.
"Oh my gosh! That's the football team. And that guy with a blonde hair is their team captain. Anthone." She said. Squeeking. "Oh no. He's heading towards the soccer team."
*Dave and Anthone*
"Hey Dave. How's the game? Another embarrasing loss?" He asked rudely and his whole team laughed.
"Did you hear something Jules?" He asked the man in his side. "It's like I heard a rat talk." And the whole table laughed.
Furious and Anthone said, "This isnt over yet loser." And they seated at their table.
I cant believe the fury of their rivalry. I want to end up this curiousness so I poked Chloe.
"What's with those two?"
"They've been rivals since middle school. Because of a championship game last 3 years." She said.
"Ohh.." i replied.
"They were bestfriends even though theyre from different schools. It all started in a soccer game last 3 years. Dave and Anthone were both team captains. They're tied but 20 seconds were left in the game and Anthone has the ball. They were at the middle line not until Dave stole the ball from Anthone and there were 10 seconds left. The crowd was cheering wildly while Anthone chased Dave forever. But it was too late. Dave scored a goal and they won. It was a clean game though. Ever since, Anthone never spoke a word to Dave again. Im guessing Anthone didnt accept their loss."
"Cool story." I was staring blankly as Chloe told the story. I felt sorry for Anthone.
"Well, what can we do? Their friendship is difficult to fix now that they're in the same school and their rivalry's getting worse." She said. And I sighed.
I didn't mention about the Taco Town incident. I don't want Chloe to go nuts about it.
After class, I was running towards the faculty room to rush some papers not until I bumped to another student. Not just another student.
It was Anthone.
I dropped everything on the floor and I felt my head prickle. His body was sturdy as rock. He looked towards me as I picked the papers up.
"Cant you see where your running through?" He said.
"I'm terribly sorry." I said.
"Look up" he demanded. I raised my head. Im shaking too. I dont know if he's going to slap or embarrass me.
He grabbed my hands and slammed me against the door. His two manly hands trapping my slim frame. He lowered his look and said.
"Pretty eyes. Cute too." Seriously? What the hell is with my eyes?! But nonetheless, Im scared and I dont know what to do.
I saw Dave pass through us and pulled Anthone's shirt like he's going to punch him.
"What do you think you're doing?" Dave said.
"Easy loser." Anthone said. "I was just playing with her."
Dave grabbed my hand and helped me carry my things.
"Next time, choose who you play with." He said. "Let's go Lucy."
I can really feel the hatred and rivalry between the two of them.
"Sorry for his behavior. He probably did that on purpose to anger me." He paused. "You see. My mom's in a terrible condition because of my bastard father. She suffered from domestical abuse and was traumatized and now she's on psychological therapy. That's why I hate it when I see girls being treated like that. As for my father, he's now in Boston with his second family." He looked sad.
"I'm sorry for what happened." I said while looking down.
"Forget it. Anthone's a jerk." Which is true. Dave and Anthone are a complete opposite. Dave is gentle and kind while Anthone is rude and aggressive. I'm starting to be scared of him.
"Where do you live again?" He asked as he slowed down.
"Um.. go to the left and you'll see a farmhouse near the river."
"You live in farmhouse? I'm sorry. I didnt notice the last time coz it was too dark." He said surprisingly. "By the way, That's so cool! I wished to live in a farmhouse once. But I live in an apartment. It's the only property my mom left me including this car." He stopped. "Oh. Here we are."
"Thanks a lot Dave. For helping me." I smiled. He stared at me for a second as if I have dirt in my face.
"You know, you look beautiful when you smile. It's my first time to see you do that." Then he drove off the road.
I stiffened for half a second and I realized something...
I think I'm inlove with this guy.
