- Jho's Pov -
Jhoana Louisse Maraguinot but everybody calls me Jho. I'm a sophomore whose also part of the ateneo women's volleyball team. I came a long way from where I used to be. Grew up living in the province and not until college where I got recruited to stay in a university located in the city to be part of their team.
I hesitated at first because I didn't want to leave my family behind and not really used to life on city grounds but I'm doing this for my family. Not only am I getting a scholarship for this but will also make them proud with my achievements in studies and volleyball.
Going back to Ateneo today and i'm alone because I didn't want them to have a hard time travelling on the way back. I took a bus early in the morning so that I'll have the chance to catch my team's morning training in the campus. I hard time saying goodbye to my family even though I've already been through this process for a year already. Just the thought of them being able to only see me on television screens during games or through video calls during free time makes me sad but the wait is always worth it in the end.
Jho: this is it. back to reality
I say to myself before entering again the grounds of Ateneo
I made my way directly to the gym and felt relieved that I was still able to catch them even if their about to end with their scrimmage.
I was watching from a corner as I wait for them to finish when I caught my eye looking at this girl seated at the bleachers who like me is also intently watching the training. I made my way to her curious as why she's here at the gym
Jho: hey
I called out to her repeatedly because she's too pre-occupied with the team but when I finally got her attention I caught her staring at me for the longest time
"Stop staring I might melt"
I said to her because I have to be honest that if looks could kill then I'd surely be dead by now
"What are you doing here?"
I ask calmly yet curious
Bea: Uhh I was just actually roaming around the campus to kill time and saw myself heading here just to see if there are trainings being held
It felt weird because why would somebody be interested in our training except of course she's a fan and is also a student here in Ateneo or maybe she's a soon-to-be athlete
"Oh are you a new student?"
Bea: Yup and a rookie of the volleyball team
"Really? Actually just by looking at you already is obvious that your an athlete but I didn't want to assume"
Bea: well I guess your presumptions are right. You what are you doing here?
Yeah I guess so too... she thought
"I'm actually a player also of the volleyball team. It'll be my 2nd year of playing already. I just can't join them now because of my injury that happened over the summer and I need one more month of rest and therapy before I can get back on track"
I saw her reaction looking surprised but can't seem to figure out why. Is it because of my injury or that i'm an athlete
Bea: wow I can't believe that an athlete approached and is already having a casual conversation with me

"I was just curious as to why you are here. Normally nobody goes here during the first day of classes"
Bea: I actually don't have classes today. Just killing time before I can already move in at the dorm later at 3pm
"Your moving in already? That's great because I'll be able to see you and we can talk more often"
I was actually looking forward to being roommates with her because she seems like a nice person
Bea: looks like you're getting close with me
"let's just say i'm feeling comfortable with you already"
I felt like she's been wanting to say something to me since she's been looking at me with hesitation if she'll push through with it. I was getting anxious and will ask her what's in her mind when a member of the tea called out for me which left her hanging
"I'd have to go. It was nice meeting you and I hope we could talk more often once you move in."
I hurriedly say to her as I make my down the bleachers and into the court. She wanted to stop me but looks like it failed her.
