Chapter 7 - Must be Coincidence
Sang's POV:
"Calm down, Sang. It's not the end of the world if you can't find your swimming suit." I stared at Karen in disbelief. Of course it was the end of the world! We only had half an hour left.
"Karen time is running out. We can't just go buy a swimsuit!" How would it look like to Angry Guy if I, being his counselor, was late to the meeting I set up! I didn't even know his name! "There's no other way. If you can't tell Karen, we're not the same size." I looked at her towering above me. Yup, definitely not the same size.
"What if I told you," Karen started, "That I bought a bathing suit for you?"
"Did you hide my bathing suit? Did you throw it away?" I said, coming straight to conclusions.
Karen rolled her eyes. "My god, no. Yesterday you called me and I went and bought a bathing suit for you. Because I knew you needed one. Here." She throws a two piece hot pink bikini at me.
"How did you know my size?"
"I looked through your closet. And guess what I find as your bathing suit? One of those swimming t-shirts that children wear. And, okay, I let that go. You're trying to save your skin. But swim trunks, that's crossing the line."
"It's pink."
"That's not fair. What if a guy's favorite color is pink? Or orange? Or red? Purple? Women can wear all colors but men can't? And anyway, those were trunks Sang. Made for men. Not swimming shorts made for women." Karen hesitated. "Unless...you like wearing men's clothes?"
"Oh gosh no Karen!" I stared at her like she'd grown a second head. Maybe she did for all I knew. "And you looked through my stuff!" I was slightly bothered by the image of Karen shuffling through my things. It brought back bad memories.
"I didn't look at anything other than clothes. But girl, please go and try the swimsuit on. You don't want to be late, do you?"
I gaped at my lounging companion. What a nerve she had! After slamming the door to my bathroom I quickly changed. To be honest, I thought I looked pretty good. It just showed way too much skin. Which I also think was the point.
"Karen?" I poked my head out. "Why did you have to buy such a revealing bathing suit?"
She was still lounging on my bed, inspecting her nails. "So you would attract guys."
Did she not have any shame at all? I would've felt better if she used some excuse instead of outright telling me. "Well, what if I don't want to attract guy's attention?"
You're such a tramp. A whore. A slut. You deserve worse.
Karen laughed. "You're so interesting. Normally girls would want to attract the attention of a guy."
"I don't feel comfortable showing so much skin."
"So wear a thin sundress over it. When you get into the pool, nobody'll notice. And the water is taller than you so the skin that you think you're showing so much will be censored by the water."
I felt only slightly relieved. So as Karen had suggested, I pulled a thin blue sundress over my head and said, "Let's go."
North'S POV:
Sighing, I started my journey to the public campus pool. I didn't want to go. Not because I wanted to ditch that ditsy blond that makes me feel weird but because Jade Williams would most likely be there. I would go though. I needed to find out why I'm feeling this way about that tiny blond. Taking out my phone, I check in with Kota.
