Chapter 5 - Crystal Eyes
Sang's POV:
"You have a bed right? You and your boyfriend didn't share one right?" I asked curiously. If she didn't have a bed, I could buy Karen one.
"I know what you're thinking. You want to buy me a bed. But yes, I do have a bed. My boyfriend and I didn't always share a bed. And anyway, how do you have so much money?" She asked me as she moved boxes into the room.
"I have a modeling job. I only do it when they call me, so it's only part time." I let out a breath when I put down a particularly heavy box.
"Do you like modeling?"
"No," I answer truthfully. "To tell the truth, if they don't call me soon and give me a paycheck, I may have to get another job." I didn't think filling in for Mr. Jeral's spot would pay me any money. I also didn't want money from him. That meant less money to pay for his wife's medical bills.
"No worries, I have a bit of money saved up in my savings account for working at the café," Karen assures me. "We're almost done Sang, stop looking so ragged." She laughs.
I took in a deep breath and let it out through my nose. "What are in these boxes? Bricks? Books? Antiques?"
"Let's take a break," she suggests.
"Do I really look that bad?" I ask kind of defensively. "Because I don't know how you carry these. They're so heavy!"
Karen looks down at me with pity. "Girl, what you're carrying is not that heavy. It's not bricks, books, or antiques. It's just bed sheets."

"You have no clothes!" Karen stood in front of my closet with her hands on her hips. She turned and grabbed my arm, lifting me up from the bed. "Two pairs of jeans. Two. I have seven. Not to mention your closet is outdated. It's all blouses and skirts. No high boots, high heeled shoes, or even a single pair of Vans!" She groaned and dragged me to the front door. "Now I don't know much about how everyone else lives, but I do know that you need some stuff. And a whole lot of it." She started putting on her shoes and threw on jacket. "Come on, quick! We might be able to make it in time so that we have a good four hours."
I slowly tugged my tennis shoes and cardigan on. "Where are we going?"
Karen grinned. "The only place there is when you're shopping for someone with no clothes. So off we go to the South Park mall!"

"You need something?"
I turned and find a bored-looking attendant staring at me. "Uh, Karen?" I glanced at her but she was nowhere to be seen. "I-I don't really know."
She seemed to be around my age. She harrumphs. "Then get out. I don't have time for someone like you." She took out a small white packet and ripped it open. She then poured the white powder in her mouth. "Get lost." With that, she lay down and closed her dark eyes. Her shiny black hair covered her face. Maybe it was medicine and she was sick? Yeah, that was probably why she was so grumpy.
"Oh, ok then." I slowly tiptoed away and out of the store. I wondered where Karen had gone. I walked into a different store and looked around. There was still no sign of her. Clothing racks were everywhere. It was like a rainbow of clothes. The scent was enjoyable too. The whole store seemed to smell like lavender. A pale pink blouse with flowers on it attracted my attention. I went to go hide behind it until I could scan my surroundings.
"Oy, what are you doing?"
I jumped and turned around, shocked with my heart beating fast. "Huh?" A pair of crystal blue eyes peeked out through strands of blonde and rich brown hair. "Oh uh, nothing. I'm doing nothing."
