Astinux laughed heartily as he listened to the tales of Spike; the wizard was able to stir up humour in a graveyard. "But of course... Diana drew first blood. She dragged both men out by their balls!" said Spike hysterically "and she would have tied them together if she could...wait, she did!".
"I'm glad you still have something to laugh about" Cariman said from behind, this cured them of their laughter.
"Tell me, have any of you men kidnapped her to get to me? Name your price!"
The wizard did not take his eyes off the flames into which he stared since Cariman started speaking, the general went to sit beside him and stirred the fire to draw his attention.
"She will be fine Cariman, let that comfort you, and do not discredit your loyal men", Spike finally spoke.
"What about now Spike? How is she doing now? I know you have been receiving glimpses of where she is and whatever she is going through. I have been watching you. Tell me." Cariman said looking at the old man.
"No..." he replied grudgingly.
"Oh ..."Cariman stood up to stand beside a tree with his hand pressed on his sword.
"I'm sorry I have to force you through this, but it will pay off trust me", said Spike.
Astinux got up from the other side of the fire and joined the general.
"Spike loves Crysarnia general and would never let anything happen to her on purpose. She will find us...she is not as weak as you may think, Ive seen her"
Cariman could not ignore the warmth in the young soldier's words; he carried around him an air of peace, like the kind you will feel in the presence of an elf.
"You can touch the heart of the devil", said Cariman, "But not today" and left their side.
DENIGARD PLAINS
"Your face is legend offspring of Cariman, what a pity that it should be marred", said the scarred dwarf.
She held back tears, but the thought that she might die at the hands of these dwarves, made it harder. Now more than ever she had the strong will to live but the spell had made her weak and she could do little to resist the blade, which was now halfway down her blood-covered forehead.
She screamed but the dwarf taunted her in her agony by pressing the sword deeper into her skull; she felt the blade scrape it, her eyes wandered imploringly to Tikan for help but he looked away.
One of the drunken dwarves unintentionally let an arrow fly toward Crysarnia, luckily it missed, Tikan turned to him angrily.
"The general said if she moves her lips we should shoot" the drunk dwarf said in defense.
The sounds of Crysarnia's muffled shrieks disturbed the night, unable to bear the sight of torture any longer, Tikan grabbed a hammer from a dwarf with every intention of easing her pain even for a moment; the general noticed it and made it just in time to push him to the ground when Tikan threw the hammer towards the scarred dwarf. The hammer had rocketed to a different direction and Sherberk, one of the dwarven soldiers took it squarely in the head, the dwarf fell to the ground instantly dead.
Tikan wrestled with the general who was trying to hold him down, he succeeded in throwing the general down and took to his heels. The general ordered two dwarves after him. Crysarnia saw what the half-caste did to try to save her but it only earned her a moment's breather, the scarred dwarf placed the blade back on her face. "Sculpting takes time" he said to taunt her. Crysarnia's scream intensified as the dwarf started to cut into her eye.
