Lion
I ran through the forest heading back towards my pack the fastest I could. It took everything in me not to turn around and kill Violet's father with no regret. Him disrespecting me didn't bother me the slightest, but the way he spoke to my mate brought out the animal instinct to kill. I didn't give a shit how upset he was, no one ever talks to her like that. Daughter or not.
Violet began to growl at me and squeeze my sides with her legs. She was angry with me and I had a pretty good idea why. I slowed down and stopped completely, only a few minutes away from my territory. She hopped down and stared at me with daggers.
"What's up her ass?" My wolf commented.
"Shift Lion!" She commanded me with power in her voice, my wolf and I did not like her tone and sudden demand. Instead of shifting I sat on my butt and tilted my head to the side, tongue hanging lazily out my mouth. She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "Please Lion, we need to talk." This time I stood up and wagged my tail, only because she said please. I love when she begs. I shifted back into my human form and walked over to a tree leaning against it. Her eyes watched my every naked movement, not once leaving my body.
"Eyes up here Luna." She snapped her eyes to mine and cupped her red cheeks with embarrassment. She shook herself a little and stared back towards me with the daggers she had once before.
"What were you thinking back there?" She asked, walking closer to me.
"What do you mean?" I knew why she was upset but I wanted her to tell me. I wanted to see what she would say and how she would say it. Testing her in a way.
"Challenging my father! Have you lost your damn mind." She threw her hands up in the air. She can be so dramatic at times, I don't think it was that big of a deal. I was defending us, protecting what's mine.
"Your father provoked me Violet. What did you expect me to do? Be a good little dog and keep my mouth closed with my tail tucked between my ass? Yeah, I don't think so babe." I stood firmly. There was no way I would bow down to anyone. Elder or not.
"Lion you could have gotten us killed!" She yelled at me desperately wanting me to understand. The thing is I understood where she was coming from, but that doesn't mean that I will allow anyone to disrespect us the way that they did. "You challenging him to keep us together would have broken us apart forever if he killed us!" She growled at me and I returned a growl right back at her. I charged towards her, grabbing her face with both of my hands. Our bodies slamming to the ground with a thud. She looked at me with wild eyes wondering why I charged at her. I knew I didn't hurt her, she would have clawed my eyes out if I did.
"You don't think I can protect you?" I squinted my eyes at her.
"I know you can, Lion. But-" I cut her off with another sharp growl and she stopped talking. I wasn't angry, more so hurt if anything. My wolf also took it as an insult.
"Numbers mean nothing to me Violet, I could have killed them easily including your father if I had to."
"Lion...I-" I cut her off once more.
"Don't ever doubt that I can't protect you. Even if I had died I would have made sure you were safe before I caught my last breath." She was silent. Not saying a word. Just staring into my eyes as if she couldn't believe what came out of my mouth.
"Never forget that." I stroked her cheek to calm my nerves. Touching her always seemed to relax me. She smiled slightly and nodded her head. I was happy she understood, that if she had no one else she will always have me. I kissed her forehead and stood up getting off her and stuck my hand out for her to grab. "Ready?"
