Lions POV

"Violet wait!" I called after her immediately regretting the way I spoke to her. Even though I wasn't trying to get too affectionate, I was being too much of a dick. I was pushing her away and I didn't want that.

"Fuck." I cursed under my breath.

"Hey man, you cool? What was that all about?" Max asked me.

Not only was Max my beta but he was my best friend, and I wanted to tell him everything. I wanted his opinion on how to handle this situation. But he wouldn't approve of what I was doing. This would be considered weak, especially for an Alpha. An Alpha was known to handle situations head on, not scheme and pretend. "Nothing man, lets go get a drink."

I needed something. This shit was too much for me at the moment. I needed to relax and figure out how to apologize to Violet. We walked around to the back of the house and went straight towards the group of people crowding around the liquor table outside. Everyone was pushing each other and shoving trying to get as much alcohol as they could before it was gone. "Animals." I whispered to myself disgusted at the sight. I wasn't going to stand here and wait while these mutts cursed at each other trying to pry bottles and beer cans from each other's hands.

I growled so loud that the table shook and everyone turned around. Bowing their heads and turning their necks in submission, acknowledging an Alpha. They weren't my pack, but damnit they better had respected me or everyone would have been ripped apart by my bare hands.

"Move" is all I said and they made a line on each side making a pathway for me to walk through. I could smell the fear of every last wolf that I passed. I was born to be Alpha, I couldn't dare show respect for anyone other than my parents. I didn't give a damn who liked me and who didn't, but you will respect me. You can bet your life with that. I'm usually a nice guy, but ever since I met Violet a lot has changed about me. I've been more aggressive with everyone, more on edge. Not saying that she makes me a bad guy, it's me who does that all on my own. Especially if I do something to hurt her.

I grabbed the biggest bottle of Grey Goose and turned to leave. "Continue" I said with one word and they went back to what they were doing.

"Drunk idiots." Max growled while holding up two cups to pour our drinks into. "What Alpha would let their pack behave like this" he asked me.

"An unfit one that's for sure" I told him.

"Cheers" Max said and held up his cup and we drunk the whole thing down quickly relieving some of my stress.

"So what's going with you and Violet?" Max asked me curious.

"Nothing man, everything's coo-" he cut me off.

"Come on man don't give me that nothing ass bullshit. How long have we known each other?" He cocked an eyebrow at me waiting for an answer.

"Since we were pups."

"Alright then, come on tell ya boy. What's up?" He raised his eyebrow again.

"How do you stop yourself from falling for someone?" I asked him truthfully. I was falling hard for Violet and I didn't know how to handle it.
