The hum of the car and and the hooting crowd made Liza smile. It was the kind of smile that people would describe as ear to ear. Liza couldn't control it. The fingers of her left hand curled around the steering wheel. Her other hand wrapped around the gear shift.

There was nothing in the world that compared to being behind the wheel. Nothing made her feel the rush that came with driving. The joy and the thrill of it was what Liza lived for.

She glanced over and her opponent and saw him hold up a slip of paper, the title of his car. Liza grinned and held up her own slip. Charlie would bite off her head if she saw Liza now. The thought made Liza smile wider. She was an adrenaline junky and a terrible friend.

"You ready?" A scandalously clad girl pointed at Liza. She revved the engine of her charger. The body of the car twisted from the engine's power. While the girl asked Liza's challenger is he was ready Liza took a moment to close her eyes and calm down. Maybe a smidgen.

Liza was a racer to the core and a good one. The only way she would ever lose a race was if her emotions got the better of her. She used logic to calm her excited heart.

If she lost the race Charlie would kill her.

But she wouldn't lose.

"GO!" The woman brought her arms down and bent over, exposing most of her chest.

Liza shot off like bullet from gun. She whooped as the dry dessert landscape and cheering crowd was left behind. The other driver was always just one foot behind her, but one foot is all it takes. A quarter mile later and his beat up 1967 Shelby Cobra was Liza's. The guy reluctantly handed over his slip.

"Maybe next time." Liza slid the slip into her pocket as she shook his hand. She had him park the car over in a empty area. That she had roped off.

One car down. Thirty-one to go. Liza knew she couldn't replace her friends collection all in one day, but she planned on winning enough cars and money to give them a good starting point.

Liza continued to race. She got in as many races as she possible could. She didn't always bet slips and she didn't always win, but she never lost slips. Liza picked her battles carefully. If she won every race then people wouldn't race her.

It was getting to mid afternoon, around five o'clock, before Liza really went up against anyone she knew. She had specifically been avoiding it, and Charlie.

"Two hundred each?" Roman called. He was driving an import. Liza looked past him and saw Charlie in Roman's passenger seat.

"What are doing in his car?" Liza yelled over the roar of the engines.

"She's my lucky charm." Roman smiled.

"But she's my lucky charm!!" Liza pouted.

"Well we will just have to see who she's more lucky for." Roman said.

"Nah you can have the luck." Liza gave in, but then she gave Roman a devilish grin, "You're going to need it."

"Dang girl."

"Five hundred?" Liza raised the bet. She held up a wad of cash.

"You're on!"

"Ready?" A new girl with heels so high if she fell she would go ker-splat called.

"Beat him!" Charlie yelled from Roman's car.

"Hey now!" Roman said taken aback.

"What? I've know her longer..." Charlie shrugged.

"GO!" Too high heels yelled.

Roman and Liza took off. Their cars constantly shifting between one being in front of the other.

Liza hooted and changed gears. She watched her RMP's as they climbed up the tachometer. One foot in the gas, the other over the clutch. Her thumb hovered over the nos. When to use was the next question. Roman was good. She wasn't going to win with out the extra push.

She hit the nos. The gforce pushed her farther back into her seat. Once again Liza couldn't stop the smile from spreading across her face. She let out a scream of exhilaration. Nothing could ever top racing. Nothing.

She crossed the finish line. Roman crossed a split second later. He cussed, and came to a stop next to Liza.

Liza was letting her car idle while she stood outside of it.

"Pay up!" She smiled. Roman frowned and got out of his car still mumbling. Charlie followed him out.

"Woman I thought you would be my lucky charm." Roman told her.

"I was. You were that," Charlie held her thumb and pointer finger a tiny space apart, "close to beating her. With out me you would have been choking on her dust."

"Ye of little faith." Roman scolded.

"Hey now. Maybe next time."

They reached Liza and Roman pulled out his own wad of cash. (Cause no one uses wallets ever in this movie series.) He separated five hundred dollars from their friends and handed it over to Liza.

"Why thank you Sir." Liza smiled then handed the bills to Charlie, "My lady."

"Oh you gotta be kidding me!" Roman threw his hands in the air.

"What? I owe her thirty-two ten second or classic cars. I'm basically her slave." Liza started back away to her car. She had money to make.

"Thanks Roman." Charlie kissed him on the cheek, "maybe next time all my luck will be yours and you'll beat her."

"You know how to drive a guy crazy." Roman groaned. He turned to maybe get a full on kiss from Charlie, but she was already walking away.
