I was always sort of forced into music when I was young, but now I thank my mother for it. I started the piano when I was 5, the Trombone when I was 12. Yeah yeah, it's a boys instrument right? Well no, it's not. I was in almost every school band, music teachers loved me. So when I came to England, it wasn't exactly me who discovered myself. I was singing to myself at work, someone told me I should sign up for Karaoke at the big Xmas Dinner. I did, thinking it would be fun, and by the end of my song, I had four people come up to me and ask me to join their contract. The perks of being an assistant to a record producer, Billy Mobil.

So, one of the agents that asked for my number put me into this secret audition that only the best new about to join a band. I turned up at this great big hall and found myself standing in line with 11 other boys and girls. I walked into a room and sang a song for a big group of 10 guys and 3 girls, and left. Never did I think anything would come of it.

I got a call from my agent saying I had a callback for the band thing, I went, sang another song whilst getting on with my medical career at a London University. And I got the part. I didn't know what I was in for really. But I was ready, at least, I think I was.

I knew that with talent came fame, and with fame came money and with money came sacrifice. I told my mother, who was appalled at the fact that I was going to live so far away.

I explained to her and reminded her of her trip to Africa that I promised I would take her on when I was a millionaire. That got her a little excited.

My mother had always dreamed that I would become of something great, and now her dream was happening.

I met my band mates later on in the week. When I met them, I was very very surprised. They were extremely famous already, 5 boys, I didn't even know that they were looking for a new band mate. I guess that is why it was a secret audition. Very secretive.
