Vic grabs the cake from the refrigerator, carrying it out back, and setting it on the table.

"Happy Birthday baby girl." he whispers, kissing his daughter, Lily's head.

"Daddy. Who is L.. Lacy?" the 4 year old asks, pointing to the name written by hers in purple icing on her cake.

"Well, that's your sisters name. Today, she would've been 20 years old. She was a very wonderful girl who lost her life 6 years ago. She would've loved you very much and she would've watched after you greatly." Vic explains, seeing Lacy out of the corner of his eye, smiling at him. He smiles back, stopping himself from waving at her.

"Was she beautiful daddy?" Lily asks. Vic pulls out his phone, unlocking it, and showing his daughter the wallpaper of his deceased baby girl.

"She's beautiful isn't she?" he asks, watching Lily's face brighten up.

"She's very very beautiful daddy!" She beams. Mike lights the candles, and everybody starts singing Happy Birthday. Lacy stands across the yard, softly singing along with them to her sister.

"Happy Birthday Lily!" Hunter, Vic's 5 year old son beams at his sister.

Vic feels a kiss on his cheek as they finish the song and Lily blows out her candles. He looks over to see his fiance, Grace, smiling at him.

"I love you." she whispers and Vic smiles at her.

"I love you too. Both of you." He whispers back, resting his hand on her slightly protruding stomach.

Sometimes life treats you right, and other times it doesn't. It all depends on what life wants to happen.

Vic looks down, holding his head in his hands.

"I'm sorry for your loss." The doctor says before leaving. Vic looks to his fiance, watching as she looks down at her stomach and sobs.

"I'm so sorry baby." He whispers, sitting by her on the hospital bed.

"Its not your fault. You didn't cause the miscarriage." She says softly.

Vic kisses her forehead, holding her close as he rocks her back and forth. He closes his eyes and starts humming Hold On Till May, the best he can. It had been awhile, he hadn't sung this song but 2 years ago, and he was getting old.

"I love you." He whispers as he finishes.

"I love you too and that was beautiful." Grace whispers.

"You remember how you used to actually be a fangirl?" Vic asks, cracking a small smile. Grace chuckles, shaking her head.

"Don't remind me." She says, pecking Vic's lips.

"We can try again soon. Everything will be okay." He says and she nods, resting her head on his chest as he lays back.

Maybe Vic could live without his daughter, he thought to himself at times. But other time, he thought he could just die right then and there and be happy. He would never replace her part in his heart though, which was a majority of his beating heart. He could never replace her.
