[Author's note: Hello guys and girls, I'm sorry but this month's gonna be a slow one. I've got tests and the motivation to write has temporarily escaped me, but don't worry! I've got some serious shit planned with the fifth and final part of Sanctuary, coming out either at the last week of this month, or the first week of the next month. Hope you all enjoy, like and comment your opinions on this story!!]

It took George's brain a few seconds to process what had happened. One moment, Frank had fired his gun, the next, he was looking at Hailey with a large bullet hole in her forehead, clearly dead. He was in shock. He began to see head. Tears fell from his eyes. Somewhere at the edges of his vision, he could see Colin pummeling Frank and Frank fighting back, but he couldn't hear them. All he could hear was an overpowering white noise. He saw Caramel clutching Hailey's body, crying her eyes out. Allen was trying to pro Colin and Frank apart, and failing miserably, but George was oblivious to all.

"LOOK OUT!"

George flinched as Allen threw a Zombie to the ground and stomped its brains off. George looked around him as more Zombies emerged from the forest, at least ten of them. He got up and threw one to the floor just as it began to fall on Caramel and smashed its head with his walking stick, just as Allen had done to the previous Zombie, and - to his surprise - the Zombie stayed still.

Frank shouted, "Hit them in the brain and don't let them bite you! They bite you, you get infected and die!" He pushed Colin away and began firing at the Zombies. Allen grabbed a large log out of the campfire and brought it down hard on a Zombie's head, sending it crashing into the campfire. George began to hit Zombies with his cane whilst Caramel brought out a short knife from her belt and dug it into the forehead of a Zombie, but it kept coming!

Caramel dug the blade deeper, but the Zombie still came. She could see into its putrid mouth, smell the nauseating smell of decay as the Zombie grabbed her.

WHACK!

Frank hit the Zombie in the back of its head with his gun, breaking its skull. The Zombie collapsed to the ground and Allen polished off the last two Zombies.

Caramel was in shock. The stupid idiot she had abused and threatened to beat just a few moments ago had saved all of their lives. If not for Frank and Allen, they would have died. The realization that Zombies could be killed by destroying their brain had been a new one for the group. They had never tried killing a Zombie, and when they had, it was either setting them on fire, or shooting them in the heart. When those two options didn't work, they settled on running away.

However, even though they had saved their lives, Caramel was angry, "Hit the brain, you said!" She spat at Frank angrily, "It kills them! Then why didn't this one die?"

Because you didn't hit him in the right part of the brain." Replied Frank min a matter-of-fact way. "You need to hit them either in the temple or the back of the head. That's where they are most vulnerable."

George was wheezing with exertion. He had killed two Zombies and was feeling the burn. He fell to his knees, clutching his cane for support. He looked on into the distance. Colin was in mourning, and Allen was looking at George in concern.

George looked back at Allen and asked, "Those weren't real people?"

"No." Allen replied, "They were all infected. They can't be cured. No one can cure death. One of my friends. A guy named Robert. He got bit on his shoulder. I watched him slowly die of the infection... I know it's hard to believe, but once you're infected, you die. And nothing can change that."
