The adrenaline rushed through my body. I held the bag close to me.

The hill seemed bigger than before. My legs started getting heavy. Tears clouded my vision but I pushed on.

Thup!

I tripped over a branch and I tumbled back a few meters. My head impacted on a rock.

I touched my temples and felt something wet. Blood. I was so careless.

I got up and brushed my self off. I continued walking and I found the stream. I touched it's crystal waters. I started thinking about Kira again and my nose started hurting because I held back my tears.

I washed the blood off me and brushed away any pebbles that had found its way into my wound.

A branch snapped.

Something hit my head and my vision started streaking with white. Pain spread through the back of my head. I groaned and fell face first into the cold water.

I gasped for air but my body suddenly felt weak.

Something reached towards me and I blacked out.

I screamed as soon as I could see again. My voice was hoarse.

I was laying under something. My arms reached out as I breathed roughly.

I sat up to quickly and my vision went white again. I closed my eyes as I groaned in pain.

I opened my eyes again. I was in a tent. That's when I heard movement outside. A shadow walked by the tent. It reached for the flap of the tent and I panicked. A warm glow came in and I punched out.

Someone groaned and fell back. I opened my eyes slowly. It was a he. He groaned and sat up. I gasped.

Mike.

I opened my mouth but he clamped his hand around my mouth.

The box.

"Be quiet.", he whispered.

I struggle for a bit trying to get out of his grip. He was too strong.

I nodded.

He lets go of me. He sat back and ran his hand through his hair. He was wearing his GreenCoat uniform. It was an ugly color.

"You talk to much like always.", his eyes flickered to my lips.

He's the only one that says I talk to much. I breathed out. I tucked my hands in my pocket and felt for Aspen's compact.

Aspen. I miss him.

I looked away when I felt the tears come. I bite my lip. I can't cry in front of Mike. Never. Be strong Lyra.

My fingers curled around the compact. I felt Mike's fingers on my chin and the back of my neck. He gently turned my face towards his. I looked down in embarrassment.

I tried to hold back the tears but it didn't help. His fingers laced up my jaw and onto my cheek. He brushed away my tears.

I opened my eyes and looked at his eyes. They were dark. They were focused on me. He pulled me closer to him.

My mind started racing. No. Not now. Not when I've just lost Aspen.
I tried to pull back but he held on tight.

I closed my eyes. A ruffling sound stopped Mike's advancement towards me. His head turned, his lips brushed against my cheek.

I opened my eyes again. He was looking at a girl. Her blonde hair tumbled down her shoulders.

Her blue eyes were striking. I studied her face for way to long. I didn't even notice Mike's hands leaving my body.

She smiled. "Mike is this the new comer?", her voice was like chocolate. Smooth and cute.

Her beauty doubled when she smiled.

Mike shook his head." No. She'll be going home in a few hours Marie."

Marie and Mike looked back at me. I blinked a few times. She tugged on his arms and they stepped outside. They whispered. After a few moments of silence Mike's head popped in again. "Come out."

I crawled out and onto the cold ground. I stood up and looked around. We were in another location. In the forest but not where I was originally. I couldn't hear the hum of the wall. We must be a little further out. It was dark.

They started walking and I felt Mike's hand drag my shoulders along a bit.

It was dark and I could only hear the sounds of our feet. I shivered in the cold. They were walking awfully close.

I reached to my side. MY BAG!

"Mike where's my bag?", my voice came out as a whisper.

He didn't turn around. "It's at the campsite."

Campsite?

There was a warm glow ahead of us. My eyes squinted and I heard laughter. But instead of focusing on the light nearing us, I looked at Marie and Mike. Their hands were interlocked. Her head rested on his shoulder. It was dark earlier and I didn't notice. My stomach knotted. Did he treat all girls like what he did earlier to me? Was he that type of person?

He did have that girl..Veronica..

I pushed the thoughts out of my head. Later. Now I have to get as much information as possible. We stepped out of the clearing and I felt heat surround my whole body. There was people huddling around a campfire laughing. They all wore GreenCoats.

I breathed out. I started praying for my safety. What was I doing with the scums of the goverment.

I stood there as Mike and Marie sat next to the rest of the group.

I couldn't do this.
