I ran as quick as I could. I could see a small light and the sound of a river.
I followed the small light and stepped into a clearing. The light was an oil lamp. There was someone bathing in the river.
My eyes traced the outline of his back. Mike's back. I just stood there observing his back.
His muscles rippled through his arms and back.
My eyes trailed down lower. I stepped forward and made too much noise.
I saw him flinch a bit but he didn't turn around. Instead he got out on the other side of the river and disappeared in the darkness.
Pervert.
I rolled my jeans up a bit and waded through the water. I was shivering from the cold water once I got over. I looked around for a few moments for Mike.
The light from the oil lamp had dimmed. I turned around to go back and then my nose hit something soft.
The fresh smell of mint and sand filled my nose.
I knew that smell. I wobble back but his arms wrapped around my back.
The cold I felt from earlier was gone. I was engulfed on warmth.
I almost rested my head against his bare chest. OML. His bare chest!
My head is screaming. I steal a look up at him. I've never seen him this up close. He looked like he had asian heritage but also a tinge of Hispanic. Filipino?
"What are you doing here?", his voice was low.
I didn't reply. My heart was racing.
"Here to stare at me?", I could feel his body shift as he laughed.
I shook my head. No.
I looked up at him. His eyes were also looking down. They were dark and yet so calming.
He moved. We moved. I felt my back touch the floor. He was above me. He held down above my head.
I swallowed hard. His eyes traced down my whole face and then onto my body. When his eyes shifted lower I felt the warm tinge in my face.
My cheeks got hot. "Are you here to help me? Comfort me?", he whispered.
His jaw tightened when I turned away.
He gets off of me and sits besides the river. My eyes trace his back like I did before.
"Go to back to your tent."
That night I toss and turn thinking about Mike. I needed to find a way to come along. I had need to see that wall.
I closed my eyes finally and dreamed of many shades of red.
