After breakfast with the Cadavers I said my good byes and decided to go to the wall again. As I walked up the hill I remembered last night.

I shook the thought away and Continued climbing. I heard the stream and then the wall came into sight. Same old same old.

I walked over and pressed my hand on the wall. A light hum.

And that was all.

I sat and leaned against the wall. The forest looked beautiful from here.

Was there more beauty over the wall?

The forest calmed me and I drifted off to sleep.

My eyes fluttered open to the sound of the thunder. The sky had covered over.

A branch snapped.

I jolted for a branch on the ground and held it close to my body.

That's when he--Mike--walked through the brush.

I sighed and dropped the stick.

"Jumpy much?", he sat down next to me.

I looked to my side." This morning...I didn't mean to be in your room. It's just I was tired last night...and I wasn't paying attention...I ju-", he puts his finger on my lips to hush me.

"Did anyone ever tell you that you babble alot?"

I pushed his finger away."Only you."

He chuckled.

My heart skipped a beat. The way he just laughed..it seemed so painful.

I turned my body to face him.

He looked at me. His stare was intense. I could feel my ears getting hot. I kept looking at him.

He turned away finally. He ran his hand through his hair. He breathed hard.

"What's wrong?"

He stood up and grabbed my arm." Lets go. You're gonna get sick out here."

He yanked me up."Hey! I'm trying to investigate."

He pushed me against the wall. His arm rested against the wall, he towered over me. It was so sudden I almost forgot to breathe.

His eyes were filled with anger.

"Don't pretend. If you were investigating then why were you sleeping? You know how Dangerous it is!?," his face inches closer. His scent of spearmint filled my nose. ,"You don't understand anything. You should try not to meddle to much. Whatever my sister told you, forget it. She's dumb and doesn't know what she's doing.", his face was just inches away. He sighs. "It's nothing..the wall. It just gives us false hope. There is nothing."

I held my breath." Will you ever try?"

He looked away." One day. One day with people that I trust.", he turns to me again, his hand snakes up and holds my chin." Without you."

He lingers and pulls away. He walks down the hill by himself, leaving me thinking of what to say. My heart was beating on overdrive.

Why was he so angry? Why is it dangerous that I was curious?

I run down the hill and try to look for him on my way down but he had already disappeared.

I walked home and walked up into Mike's bedroom. I crawl into the covers and rethink everything. It starts pouring.

Mike's smell from his covers drifted me off to sleep again. I try to fight the urge but it didn't work.

"Lyra. Wake up.", my eyes flutter open.
