Chapter 7:

Despite the fact that Harry was excited for his dinner date with Aurora, he couldn’t help but be affected by the words that had been whispered throughout his mind by his subconscious and his voice. Harry thought that it was best to cool himself off from his slight anger that had risen inside him, and went for a run a few short moments after arriving home from Elsie’s Café. Emily, Harry’s housekeeper, knew not pester Harry and ask him where he was going when he came down the stairs from his bedroom with his running clothes on. He proceeded to tie his shoelaces up before sticking his headphones in and leaving the house for his evening run. Emily had known Harry for the majority of his life and knew that he was an avid runner, so wouldn’t be home for at least an hour or so. She walked up the stairs and headed towards her bedroom, but stopped when she noticed the door to Harry’s room was left slightly ajar. With Harry being a very private person, Emily had never entered his room without him knowing or needing her too. She tried to walk away from the door, but something inside his bedroom caught her attention, but she couldn’t figure out what it was. As she stepped closer she pushed the door open a little more to see the disaster that was Harry’s bedroom. The wardrobe and chest of drawers had been toppled over and clothes were scattered everywhere. Shattered glass was scattered all over the floor, with liquid from smashed bottles of cologne staining each and every wall of his room, along with little droplets, of what appeared to be blood, splashed across various areas of the floor. One thing and one thing only appeared in Emily’s head as she closed the door and walked from the disaster stricken room; Harry’s nightmares.

A good 45 minutes after leaving his home, Harry’s head was clear – kind of – as the extent of his run had tired him out and had made him not pay attention to the things going on in his head, but stay focused on the slight thud of his feet hitting the tarmac at a steady pace as he made his way along the route of his run. He came to a stop as he turned the corner of his street and continued with a slow and steady walk as he walked towards his home. To no surprise, his thoughts began to circle round in his head and landed on the calming thought that was Aurora. No matter what the situation or state of emotion he was in, the thought of Aurora always seemed to calm him down and make all the negative thoughts in his head wash away. He knew that he scared her at times, and knew that it would be hard in keeping his anger neutral when around her. Harry couldn’t help but wander about all the questions that must have been going through her head after the events of the evening, Harry’s less detailed explanation of what his life was -and is - like must have sparked millions of unanswered questions. I will tell her everything Harry thought to himself. Deep down he had this feeling towards Aurora that he had never felt for someone else before, and so couldn’t explain what it was. But he knew in a way that he could trust her and knew that no judgemental words would be thought by her if he explained about his past. Harry found it difficult to talk about his past, so refrained from informing anyone about it. But Aurora was different and in a way, he wanted to tell; he needed one other person to know what he had gone through. And he knew that person was Aurora.

At this thought, Harry walked past Aurora’s house and noticed that only the hallway light of her house was on. She must not be back from work he thought to himself as he opened the gate to his driveway and walked towards his front door. He glanced at his watch and saw that the time read 8:10 pm. That’s odd, he thought as he reached for the key that was attached to the elastic band wrapped around his ankle. Rose is usually home by now. Harry was just about to place the key in the lock when a blood curdling scream echoed from somewhere near by. His head snapped towards the sound of the scream and knew almost instantly where it came from.
