Scott stepped on the gas pedal, holding back all of his tears. Thinking,
C'mon Scott suck it up and be a man, be the son your father never had.
He swerved sharply as a car neared his, soon he realized that he had gone into the other lane nearly hitting the blue Minivan. As he became focused on the road again it was hard not to think about Mitch.
His sister Lindsay owned a small cabin up near Washington. It was already fall, and up in Washington, unlike California, there was a big storm the day prior. Now as he was heading into Oregon snow became more apparent under his tires.
*Back At Home*
"Jer!"
"What babe?" He called from the bedroom, still annoyed that someone interrupted their romantic moment.
"Come here!" She called.
"Fine."
"Like now." She said impatiently.
"Okay I'm-woah, woah, what happened?" He asked slinging his arm over Kirstie's shoulders, looking at the unconscious Mitch laying in her arms.
"Well it all started when Scott came to the door."
"Okay." He said softly.
"He had Mitch in his arms and he said: "Kit I need help." And he sounded so sad, and he just handed him to me and said that he needed...ooh, what was it? Oh, he said he needed an 'escape from reality'. But I don't know what he meant by that. And I feel like I'm rambling?" She said questioning that last part.
"Kit, it's okay, he just needs so time alone."
"But why did he sound all sad about it? Why did he just hand Mitch off to me like this? He's obviously drunk, I can smell it on him, and Scott never leaves him with anybody other than himself when he's drunk."
"You over thinking it, love. It's fine."
"No, Jeremy you don't know Scott, he had some problems when he and his ex Justin broke up. That was when he was nineteen. I know it's not likely, but I think he's relapsing, he used to cut..."
"Babe, if you want I can go check on him..."
"he didn't go home though.."
"How do you know that?"
"I used find your friends, it's an app on iPhones, mr. Android, but you can type in their phone number as well as their passcode and then you can track them. He looks like he's in Oregon, reaching the boarder of Washington?"
She asked confused
"Kit, that's stalking." He scolded lightly.
"Well I'm really worried about him. Excuse me for caring."
"Don't act that wa-"
"I can act however I want."
"Okay do you really want me to go track him?"
"Would you?"
"If I do I'll have a late start to where ever he's going."
"You can still do it though. Just to make sure he's fine?"
Just then, the worst timing ever, Jeremy's boss called.
"I have to go into work."
"Baby!" She whined.
"No, you don't understand Kirstie, I HAVE to go into work. I don't have any other decision. If it were anything else I'd skip, but I can't okay?"
"Okay." She mumbled.
