Waking up to the annoying sounds of Iggy purring is an honor I am confronted with EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING. Yes I mean EVERY morning.  If I didn't know better I'd think that the building next door was being bulldozed.

Pulling my blue Wayfair comforter off me, Iggy is knocked from the bed falling with a massive bang. Quickly she scrambles and a loud hiss erupts from her mouth. I check if the black cat is okay, to my comfort the dramatic kitten is fine. Just a little pissed off. "Oh Izzy I am so sorry!" I apologize.

"MREOOWWWWWW," the sassy cat replies followed with oddly loud purring. Leave it to Iggy to get over things quickly.

Tomorrow school starts. Well just for me. That's the life of an advanced prep school student for you. I may be 13 but middle school classes simply didn't cut it for me. I ended up being placed into classes with the high schoolers and now I'm being assigned to an oh so fancy prep school.

It wouldn't be bad starting at the beginning of the year but this was February 6 and tomorrow is Monday!!!! New school, new friends and not to mention I am going to a school for kids who are a genius and I will be in the 8th grade. I am gonna be the new girl who doesn't fit in and everyone will hate me. Okay, maybe I am exaggerating.

I heard a quiet knock at my cream white door. I walked across my carpet that felt like I was walking on memory foam and answered the door.

"Honey," my mom, Edaline, said in a quite but excited voice, "we got your uniform."

"Wait what? Why do I have a uniform!" I demanded. I really don't like uniforms, they don't allow us to be diverse and unique, it's basically a way of saying 'we have control over you.'

"We already discussed this, since you had grades to go to any School you want including Harvard," she said. You could see joy about to burst out of my mom, even her body language appeared to be happy. "We choose this school because it has smart kids like you from all over the world . So to show that you belong, you have a uniform and a registry pendent that scans you into the school, now follow me so we can get your stuff." Exactly. Shows where we belong.

I followed my mom down the metallic spiral stair case. I got goosebumps from the cold metal. Not only was the stair case cold but so was the air. I wanted to say ever hear of a heater but that would be rude.

I noticed my dad, Grady, reading the news paper and eating glorious Mallowmelt. I practically flew down the stair case and grabbed one. As I took a bite I felt the creamiest, crisp and juiciest thing I have ever had. It tasted like I was eating jet puff rainbows. I absolutely love Mallowmelt. If I could I would eat Mallowmelt forever. I remember the first time I had Mallowmelt, I hit my head and my other neighbor, not the mean one, called 911. I apparently had a bad head injury so mom made Mallowmelt and I stayed home for a week, actually after that I became a genius. It was quite interesting.

"Honey good morning, in a few hours we need to bathe Silvny, the horse, and Verdi" the huge bird that dad accidentally dumped permanent neon yellow paint on. I disliked bathing Verdi, who is very viscous but bathing Silvny is okay I guess. We live on a pasture right outside of L.A and take care of our own animals and injured animals, mom is a vet and quite frequently cuts her luscious brown hair to her shoulders because Silvny sucks on it but this time she is determined to keep her hair butt length where it is right now. Her eyes are a beautiful shade of blue. Dad has short light blond hair and sky blue eyes, he is also pretty tall. I on the other hand have shoulder length dull blond hair and dark, boring, brown eyes.

I was adopted around 2 so it makes sense that I would look nothing like them, it's kind of a reminder that I am different. When I wasn't born Grady and Edaline's daughter died in a house fire, which gave them major depression. She looked a little bit like me but more beautiful and she had blue eyes. This made them want to adopt. Shortly after they got me their depression dissipated.

"Actually Grady me and Sophie need to go shopping for school supplies right after she tries on her uniform."

I nodded in agreement because I really didn't want to bathe any animals. Last week at my old house in Idaho, Verdi clobbered me for giving her a bath.

"Well have fun ladies." Dad said a in a little sad and happy voice which I did not think was possible. I walked on our wooden floor all the way to moms room and picked the uniform up.

It had a white shirt which was button up and long sleeved, and a brown plaid skirt with a thin red blazer, which at the top right had the school logo and under in small letter read Foxfire Academic Academy. I guess it wasn't to bad but I would rather free dress day every day, I am me. I slipped the clothing on taking of my thin white night gown and noticed another thing, it had knee high socks which were itchy. I looked in the mirror, my shoulder length blond hair looked almost pretty with the red blazer and brown skirt. I then put on the registry pendent. The jewel was very blue, and there were gold and silver wires flowing from it making the thing take up all my lower arm.

I would have so rather none of this ever happened. I wished it were a dream. I really missed Selena, she was my best friend, someone in which I sought comfort from. Also I missed Jaxson. He and I were not dating but we did have a thing, and of course my parents hadn't been cued in about this. He was very handsome and unique, I had no doubt that him and Selena had built a relationship after I left.

All though I had no classes with them I knew them because the senior class went on a field trip so I hung out with the 7 graders who were my age at the time because I couldn't go.

I missed everything, being a genius and all, and now I had to start again. I could feel tears flowing down my cheeks but I wiped them away and walked out of moms room to show her.

"Oh my gosh you look beautiful! Babe what do you think?" Mom asked.

Dad replied "It shows too much." Me and mom couldn't help burst out laughing. No matter how much things change I would always have my parents. Iggy snuck between them and nuzzled my leg.

I changed in to my day clothes when I got back to my descent sized room. I plopped on my Queen sized bed with Iggy in my arms. I hope I make new friends and am able to keep up with the other kids. Mom called down for me and I left to go get school supplies.

We got back late so I put Iggy on my pillow and mom and dad tucked me in and gave my cheek a kiss. Tomorrow was school and I would go unnoticed, probably for the best. I looked at a picture of Selena and Jaxson and I and cried for an hour until I slowly drifted of to sleep.
