Heath went downstairs, still confused about the pregnancy test. He put on his jeans and shirt, flicking his hair out of his face. I stayed on the steps, watching him carefully.
"Heath-" I began, but he put his hand up, stopping me quickly. He covered his face with his hands then sat on the sofa. He was realizing how far we had gone.
"I know we didn't use... a condom, I was so caught up....we, were so caught up." I blurted, rushing over to him, I rested on my knees between his legs peering up at him from the ground.
"We can get through this." I encouraged, pulling his hands away. His eyes were red, he was holding back the tears. I shook my head and looked down at the ground, fiddling with my own fingers. We sat in silence pondering what would become of us. He cleared his throat and wiped his face.
"Okay," was all he whispered, looking down at me. "I'll stay... I'll do what I can." he murmured, trying to convince himself more than me. I nodded, a smirk forming on my lips.
"Heath, I think this helps us see...where we are at." I confessed, his eyebrows furrowed in anger, and he opened his mouth to speak but thought better of it. He rose to head back upstairs, slamming the door loudly on his way in. I sighed falling against the foot of the sofa, Katie was still on her date, and I was basically alone, because Heath was upset that I had kept it from him for nearly three weeks. My stomach grumbled and I patted it, letting my hand linger there.
"You're going to kick one day." I thought aloud, my face began to contort into disappointment and sadness, but I stood to begin making dinner. It was silent as I fried the chicken. The brown rice and broccoli was finished, so I rested all three on a plate and carried them up the steps. Knocking on the door with my foot, I balanced the two plates in my hand. There was no answer so I put one into the fridge downstairs and ate alone at the island.
Hours had passed since Heath went into the room, Katie mustv'e pulled an all nighter with Chris, and I was getting tired. I grabbed a blanket from a closet in the living room, and snuggled into the cushions of the sofa. I clicked through the channels and found 'Courage The Cowardly Dog" laughing quietly I watched the reruns and began to drift to sleep. Heath had woken me up when he shifted my legs to make room on the couch, the plate of warmed food laid in his lap, and he watched Cartoon Network, trying his best to avoid my eyes.
"Good memories? " I asked quietly looking towards the screen, he frowned and nodded. Watching the dog type rapidly at the computer made us both laugh, catching each other's eyes. His had a twinkle, a sparkle that mesmerized me to the soul, the corners of his eyes crinkled as his smile grew wider. We could still laugh during the unfortunate occurrence of events.
"Your chicken is great, thanks." He complimented, offering me a taste. I took the chicken greedily, biting down into the crunchy meat. "You've been a lot hungrier, because of the baby, right?" he asked looking at me. I shrugged nonchalantly, but deep down inside, I wanted him to know about all of what happened so far. It was silent again, Heath put the empty plate on the floor and slunked into the couch, he stole some of the blanket me to cover himself. I began to fall asleep again, quickly because he was by my side, but not before hearing him say he wanted to take a break.
"Why?" I complained, eyes squinting in confusion.
"Just to get everything...situated, so we won't have to feel pressured to fill each other's needs. Only the baby's matters." He explained, closing his eyes and snuggling closer. I huffed angrily before closing my eyes too, falling asleep beside the man who got me pregnant.

Waking up to the sound of cooking, I glanced down at my feet expecting to see Heath. He was gone, so I went to the kitchen only to find Katie.
