The next morning I woke up tangled in my blanket. feeling a bit trapped, I thrashed around. once I was free I got up and headed to the bathroom because I really had to pee. After using the toilet I walked over to the mirror and was horrified at my reflection. My hair was all tangled and sticking out in places. My arms had marks from where the sheets dug into me when I slept. I winced a little as I saw my shirt lifted up a bit on my side making part of the long scar visible. The slightly lighter skin stood out against my tan complexion. I pulled my shirt down not wanting to be reminded of the past and walked out of the bathroom.

I went to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee and saw my mom standing by the sink. She was drinking her cup of coffee in her work clothes. she looked all ready to go. She smiled at me as I walked in.

"Well, don't you look beautiful this morning?"

"Thanks, mom" I said and shot her a dirty look. she laughed and asked if I wanted a ride to school this morning because she was going into work early today. I told her sure and grabbed my coffee and went to change.

I put on my dress that had the white skirt, jean top,and a lace back. I slipped on my sandals and infinity bracelet. I finished my coffee as I was doing my make up and hair, going for the natural look and big lose curls. I brushed my teeth and grabbed my bag. I yelled to my mom that I was ready and we walked out to her car.

As I arrived I saw Chase walking on the side walk to the side door. I smiled as I stepped on to the sidewalk. when I  glanced back Jane was getting out of her car with her friends and going up to Chase. They walked into the schools side entrance together.

I sat down on the stone bench out side and sighed to myself. I sit waiting for Nicole and Jayden listening to music. Inside I could see there were a few students eating breakfast and some just sitting and talking.

I changed the song to little bird by Ed Sheeran. It was one of my favorite song and I absolutely love Ed Sheeran. When I looked back up a girl with long blonde hair and gray eyes was standing in front me. I jumped in surprise and she laughed.

"Sorry to startle you but I'm kind of lost. I wasn't here yesterday so can you help me?"

"Uh yeah, sure."

"Thanks. I'm Marie by the way."

"Cassandra but you can call me Cassie."

"Well Cassie, I need to find the auditorium."

"Okay follow me."

She nodded as I got up and walked to the front door. We walked in and everyone was looking at us as we passed. I put my head down and tried not to think about all the eyes on us. I knew people were only looking at Marie. But I still felt insecure with every ones eyes in my general direction.

We were halfway to the auditorium when Marie said she had to go to the bathroom. After she was finished and was washing her hands I asked her why she wasn't here yesterday.

"I just moved here from California with my mom, step dad and step brother and I was helping my mom finish unpacking."

"Cool, did your step brother not come yesterday either?

"No, he came. It was just me who stayed home."

"Oh, what grade are you and your brother in?"

She was using the hand dryers and stopped talking while she did so. I took this time to really look at Marie. She was tall with darker blonde hair at the top and got lighter as it went down. She had dark grey eyes and tan skin. She was really pretty and I could see why every one was looking at her.

"We are both seniors." She said as we began walking again.

"Oh, it must be hard to move your senior year just to leave again in a year."

"Well the whole reason we moved here was because my brother and I agreed that we wanted to go to the state university here."

"Oh well, I'm sure you'll like it there. Well here we are."

"Thanks, I guess I'll see you around." She walked into the auditorium with a wave.

I walked back to the commons to see Jayden and Nicole sitting at a table.

"Hey, guys." I said sitting down.

"Hey, where were you?"  Nicole asked.

"I was helping someone find the auditorium ."

"Well aren't you a good samaritan." Jayden chuckled.

I just smiled and looked around at all the people here. Since I had been gone the commons's tables had been filled with lots of students. I could see the teachers telling kids to sit down and all the people with their friends talking. I looked to my right and not even six seats away was Jane and her pack of wannabes.  But there was someone else there too. Chase was sitting right beside Jane listening to music with one ear bud out so he could here her.

Jane probably felt my eyes on her and looked at me with a smirk. She looked at Chase and grabbed his hand. I just looked back at my friends who were talking to each other. When I glance back to Jane, Chase was pulling his hand out of hers and getting up. When he was walking away we made eye contact and I immediately looked down blushing. I hated that he could make me do that.

I was walking to class when I was stopped right out side the door by Jane.

"Hey, Cassie." She said in an over bubbly voice. Oh no this cannot be good.

"I saw the way you were looking at Chase this morning." She continued as she was stepping closer and closer to me until my back hit the lockers.

"If you ever go near him or try anything on him I will make your life hell."  'Too late'  I thought.

"Okay whatever." I replied.

"Good." She turned on her heels and walked into the class.

I groan and slid down the locker putting my head in my hands. Why can't she just leave me alone?

"Are you alright?" a deep voice asked. My head slowly looked up to see Chase standing over me.

"I-I... ummm. Yeah." I stood up gave him a shy smile and walked into class hugging my books to my chest and made my way to the desk I sat at yesterday. When Chase walks in two seconds later I pull out a book and start reading it. He takes the same seat he did yesterday too. The one right behind mine. I close my eyes and when I open them I look at Jane who is glaring at me. 'Ugh!! I really can't stop him from sitting behind me now can I?'

"Cassie are you okay?" Jayden asked. I hadn't seen her walk in.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I said. She just nodded and looked at Chase. I rolled my eyes playfully and snapped in front of her face. She jumped a bit and glared at me. I laughed and so did Jayden.

As the teacher walked in we all quieted down and put our attention on her.

"Okay, so today we are going to finish speaking about ourselves and then I will assign you partners and give you the rest of the period to get to know them. Who did we leave off on yesterday. I think it was Cassandra so, Mr. Stone. Please.

I turned and looked at Chase who was standing up.

"My name is Chase Stone and I just moved here from California with my father, step mother and step sister."

Why did this sound oddly familiar?

"I'm going to be in the band as soon as my transcripts arrive and I'm going to play football. Questions?"

"Do you have a girlfriend?" Some random chick asked.

"No I don't." As he said this I swear I heard some girls sigh in relief.

"What's your sisters name." I was surprised to hear that come out of my own mouth.

"Marie." He said. His eyes roaming my face as I stared up at him. I blushed as turned back to the front and looked down at my desk.

I heard Chase sit down and the next person start to speak. Man if I was going to have to stay away from him I better not let him effect me like that.
