"Your partners for the year are posted at the back of the room. Please find a seat with your partner and I will assign where you will sit tomorrow."
Everyone got up and went to see who they were with. I had my fingers crossed hoping that I got paired with Jayden but of course I didn't, I got paired with a girl named Grace.
"Are you kidding me?" I heard Jayden say. She sounded really pissed. I looked at her.
"What?" I asked. She pointed to her name on the paper with a frustrated sigh.
I looked at her name and saw she was partnered with...Jane. Oh my God. This can't be good. Jayden will kill her. I saw Jane furiously talking to the teacher. I know she didn't want to be paired with Jayden either.
"It's okay J. I'm sure you can handle her. After all she's scared of you, she won't dare try to mess with you." I told her.
"Yeah I know but its not her messing with me that I'm worried about. She has done so much to you these past few years I don't know if I can be around her and forget all that crap."
"No one is asking you to forget it I just want you to not think about it when your with her. That will help tremendously."
"Okay." She said and smiled at me.
I looked back up at the list and saw Chase was paired with Dylan who I had known since I was little and was a good friend. He was also Nicole's older brother and tormentor as she called him. He got held back in grade school so he was a year older than most of us.
I walked over to Grace and gave her a shy smile. She smiled back and asked me where I wanted to sit.
"It doesn't matter to me."
"Okay, lets just sit over here then."
I nodded and followed her. After we sat down Dylan came up to me.
"Hey, Cassie. Mind if we sit behind you?"
Oh no. Jane will get upset if Chase and Dylan sit behind me.
"Actually I-"
"Great. Chase, over here."
I shot Dylan a death glare and he chuckled and ruffled my hair. I swatted his hand away. I'm not a child.
"Okay, right now I want you to get to know your partner and figure out where would be the best place for you to get together. You have your first assignment today." Mrs.Huges said.
Every one groaned. Man she got started fast.
"You have to turn in a two page essay on your partners family about how they look and what kind of traits they have passed down. You will have nine weeks to do this and it must be turned in on time. I will give you every Friday to work on it but all the other days we are going to be doing our chemistry work. After the nine weeks are up and you have turned in your essay we will take blood samples and see how much you got right. The essay is seventy-five percent of the grade and how much you get right is twenty-five points"
I turned to Grace and asked her when she wanted to hang out.
"Next weekend would be good because I'm going out of town this weekend."
"Okay that's fine I was going to spend the night at a friends anyways."
She nodded and began reading a book. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around.
"Hey Cassie, you have a pencil I can borrow?" Dylan asked me.
"Dude, its the second day of school how do you not have a pencil?" I asked.
